Despite its awkward name, the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC is actually quite comfortable and stylish, and is ideally situated for doing business at the University of Illinois or at one of the many nearby hospitals. The rooms are modern and chic and have their own air conditioning or heat control. If it is nice enough to venture outside, the outdoor seating either at the bistro downstairs or on the concierge lounge balcony upstairs can provide a refreshing respite from a busy day. While the immediate vicinity doesn't have much to offer in terms of entertainment, Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood is within walking distance and features a wide range of dining options. Or, if you'd prefer, a quick taxi ride will get you to the Magnificant Mile, the trendy warehouse district, Greektown, or the vibrant Pilsen area.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
Although this is a great place to stay, it is a bit pricey. It is however significantly cheaper than what you might pay in the Loop. If you are doing business in the area you'd be hard pressed to find better-quality accommodations. The staff is extremely helpful and professional. So, if cost is of no concern, enjoy! The Marriott Chicago Downtown Medical District has a variety of rooms, all with exquisitely firm beds, luxurious bedding, cable TV, hair dryers and wireless high-speed Internet (for an additional fee). Bottled water costs a little extra. The larger studio rooms have a great view of the city's skyline.
All rooms are stocked with cotton robes, coffeemakers and yummy Bath and Body Works toiletries to make your stay more pleasant. They have also recently remodeled their fitness and business centers, the latter featuring seven meeting rooms and a computer center. The front desk can help you with airline reservations, a safety deposit box or newspapers and can arrange a wheelchair if you or one of your companions require one. There is an ATM in the lobby.
From 90/94 -- go west on Roosevelt Rd, take a right onto Ashland and you'll see the entrance a few blocks north, just before Harrison.
FROM 290 -- take exit 28B towards Ashland. It will take you down Congress for a couple of blocks until you hit Ashland. Take a right. You'll see the hotel almost immediately on the left, but will need to continue up to Flournoy St. and make a U-Turn to access the parking lot.
