The beds are great and the rooms small but who goes to Chicago to hang in a room. Well appointed but be aware that the hotel is located in the financial district and some to the stores in the immediate vicinity were closed. Close to transportation. Serve was great. I would stay there again.

Some of the rooms could be bothered by train noise. This is something you wouldn't know until check-in. The staff is very accomodating & the rooms spacious & clean. Valet parking is pricey.

I had a great time at the W. Great decor, comfortable room and really helpful and friendly staff. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had free internet access.

The King Tut Package, including VIP tickets to the Field Museum, made this a memorable stay . The staff was accommadating and competent. The beds were very comfortable but the lobby area was too dark.

My first experience with the W chain of hotels and overall positive. The lobby and rooms are uber modern, which lends to a less sterile feel. I was on the 12th floor above the train noise; if I were a few floors lower, I might have been less impressed because of the noise. One thing to note is the Munchies Box, which is loaded with everything you could possibly want or forget on a trip - the W charges on a per item and its very costly. Might be worthwhile to ask for a itemized bill if you decide to use the box, so they do not overcharge.

We were upgraded at a nominal charge into a beautiful King minisuite. The front desk staff was incredibly competent and friendly. The room was decorated with a contemporary, but very warm, flare. Entering the lobby was an experience of its own. It was like entering a frosty winter wonderland with projector lit snowflakes and twinkling stars. The valet was a bit pricy. The room's incidentals were enjoyable and grander than other hotels of this caliber. It is more of a grown up's romantic getaway as opposed to a family-friendly establishment. FABULOUS!

Stylish but a bit pretentious. Poorly organized, slow check-in with poor lobby layout. Rooms stylish but some corners cut/cheap materials . Awful housekeeping: room not made all day and difficult to rectify this. Thin walls/some noise. Poor/ noisy plumbing.
Not Worth The Price - posted on 05/29/2005
What a disappointment. TINY rooms, disinterested service staff, and a noisy room above the EL equals regretable experience. Valet parking was $39/night.

YOU'LL GET WORST AVAIL ROOM IF RESERVE ONLINE! Stayed to celebrate our wedding engagement-had awful tiny "dbl"room with no ac, DESPITE reservation of "King Wonderful" and Starwood membership. Staff was rude & dismissive. My bride-to-be cried for days after the flight home. Credit Card was double charged as well- took a month and dozens of phone calls to address. BEWARE!
Nice, but not the best W - posted on 03/22/2005
The lobby and bar are small but very "W"...however the rooms are tiny and sub-par for this great hotel chain. The room ceiling is the kind from an office building. Minor things like the thermostat, closet door, etc show that this was cheap old hotel in its prior life. Request a courtyard facing room to cut down on the noise from Adams/ the El. If you are used to other W's, this might be a disappointment.
A delight - posted on 02/13/2005
Had a great stay over Christmas at the W. The staff was very cheerful and welcoming; not many guests at that time so some little extras were very nice. My room was upgraded at no extra charge. I found the El noise outside to be very relaxing. Only negative was bar service was pretty nonchalant, but given the limited number of guests that's understandable.
