We were very happy with the accomodations. Only problem was your agent misspelled my name so the hotel had no record. A little "detective" work found the reservation.
Great place to stay - posted on 05/17/2007
I stayed at the Hyatt for a week during a conference. The rooms were very nice, with some real thought going into their decoration. The location was good and the staff was outstanding. The only thing that it could have used was a swimming pool. There was not much in terms of activities to make this a family hotel, but clearly it is aimed at business travelers. I would have, however, enjoyed a relaxing swim after a long day of conferencing. Some internet deals make it a value option during offpeak seasons, and during these promotions it's a complete steal.
BIG Hotel - posted on 05/17/2007
Mostly a large covention type hotel with adequate rooms and expensive parking. Nice location on the river handy to the Loop, Art museum and shopping.

Location was great! Within walking distance of almost everything. Bedding was stained and room was stuffy and smelled. Food was overpriced and not very good. BIG bar has great atmosphere but is way over priced! $18.00 for a drink and a beer. Will probably stay at another place next time.
not worth the price - posted on 05/10/2007
The hotel is in Downtown Chciago and makes it easy to get around, however, the air conditioning is marginal, the facilites worn and dated. For the price there are better places to stay.
Chicago Hyatt Regency - posted on 05/09/2007
The hotel seemed lovely when we first entered the main lobby/ check-in area. The major issues that we had were with the room itself- quite a hike across the skyway to get to the West Tower and then when we arrived at the room- the carpet was worn and thin, wallpaper peeling in one corner near the ceiling. The bathroom had very little counterspace to put toiletries. We also experienced an odd noise periodically coming from the heating system. Overall, we weren't thrilled with our stay. We were happy to be close to downtown, but would look elsewhere for our next visit.

My 25 year old daughter and I were in town for a few days. Never having been to Chicago we weren't sure what to see. The hotel staff was very helpful and we felt safe walking outside any time of day. The close proximity to Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier was great.

Very busy, convention central--but the location is unbeatable. You can walk to theaters, restaurants, and shopping. Room was good, shower pressure good, and elevators quick! Everything you need for a hassle-free stay.

I have stayed @ this hotel every year for the past 4 years. I love the location (a block or 2 from the Mile), the bar and the breakfast! Issues: no variety of restuarants and the ones there aren't that great, room service is over-priced/unavailable after a certain time, and if you need to eat late or just want some snacks, have to walk to the Walgreen's around the corner. Valet takes FOREVER. Location makes up for its shortcomings since you're so close to everything, always easy to get a cab.

Nice hotel, but watch out! - posted on 04/13/2007
Fabulous view on high floors, clean rooms, nice baths and comfortable beds. The despicable thing was that my daughter-in-law made me a birthday cake and I made the mistake of placing it in the refrigerated mini bar. I was charged because I placed my piece of cake in there. I never heard of such a thing! They warn you about placing stuff in there and they mean it! Be prepared for the typical high parking fees everywhere you go. Typical of any big city. People always seem to be shocked by this, but it is quite common.

This hotel is great - rooms are clean, it has a huge, nice bar, great location, brunch is excellent. Only problems were that you have to ask for brunch vouchers (they were supposed to be included in the hotel package, but they don't automatically give them to you) and check in lines were long - the hotel was very busy.

Loved it... my wife and I absolutely loved this hotel... great bar, friendly staff, excellent spa, spectacular restaurants... courteous service... very very overpriced though so be prepared for the sticker shock... room service charged 25%+ their already exorbitant price on meals and a service charge... if you don't mind that and know you're paying for a good time then enjoy. We did!
Upgrade - posted on 03/05/2007
I paid for an "upgraded" room ($30 per night) that turned out to be small and dark - even with all lights on. The air purifier did not work and the note I left was still there when I returned and it still did not work. The staff asked if everything was ok upon checkout but when I told them my thoughts they offered me a "how are we doing mail in card". I won't stay there again.

NICE HOTEL BUT I HATE THE ESCALATOR - posted on 02/15/2007
Two couples first time to Chicago. Had a blast doing all the tourist stuff. Loved the hotel...prices for room service seemed high. Don't understand why there's an escalator leading to the lobby to check in. Seems very dangerous. Anyway...the last night there I lost my balance and tumbled down the escalator, hitting my head very hard. No one in the lobby came to my rescue. I went to bed in very bad pain. They should only have elevators.
Hyatt - posted on 02/13/2007
The Hyatt seems more like a nightclub than a hotel - I couldn't even find the check-in counter! It was too crowded, if you go, count on a half hour + for valets to get your car. Also, be sure to ask for non-smoking, as I got a smoking room somehow, even though the floor was marked as non-smoking and I am sure I indicated non-smoking. The Hyatt advertises their fitness center, which was indeed really nice, but the description in the room said they'd bring you fitness clothes if you forgot yours. We called about it and were transferred four times, no one knew what we were talking about.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend getaway. We were very happy with the look and atmosphere of the hotel. Great bar area, club (inside the hotel) and very convenient. We would stay here again. (The Beds Were Really Great!!), Very nice rooms. We had a little noise from some people staying next door to us (1:00 am). I called to the front desk and they immediately took care of the problem and the noise went away-Great Service!
Okay Hotel/ Poor Service - posted on 12/30/2006
Stayed there for 3 days - Great breakfast /setting and decent rooms ( contemporary furniture but dark and small) we missed a Pool and good SERVICE. I would not stay here again - seemed difficult to get attention anywhere: waited about 15 min for the Bell Man, the check-in seemed to be understaffed, Housekeeping unavail ; after forgetting an item in the room I was informed that it will not be forwarded to my home for 4 days / shpm rate could not be quoted - ( the assistant mgr seemed to be reluctant to do anything else but repeat their policies)
Nice and comfy - posted on 12/28/2006
Other than being a little pricey we found this hotel to have about everything we could want. Being from Cincinnati we weren't used to the high prices of everything including $41 parking but weren't totally shocked either. This hotel had everything we wanted and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and quiet. I don't know about some of the people who left negative comments but they are probably super picky and would complain about any place. Again a little pricey but we would gladly stay there again.

Don't get out much. Wife and I spent 1 night downtown. Went in Feb. - walked into lobby felt like Orlando. Got there late, hotel overbooking got us immediate upgrade. Great stay - just a little noisy in the halls.

Pretty Good/Stay away from elevators - posted on 09/22/2006
Great location, nicely decorated rooms, big luxurious beds.... the towels were really my biggest disappointment - they looked like rags!! Not plush at all. Good service - My hairdryer broke while using it, they sent a replacement immediately. Try to avoid staying near the elevators - I was 2 rooms down from them & could hear them whizzing up and down all day and night.

Location is great: across street from River Walk. 2 Blocks to Navy Pier and Grant Park. Short walk to CTA trains. A first rate facility. Pleasant, helpful staff. Clean, safe, modern, spacious rooms. My son's comment, "The thing that I like about this place is that it is both fancy AND schmancy."
fair conference hotel - posted on 08/10/2006
Stayed 5 nights for a conference. Without the conference rate, would have been way overpriced. Nice location, nice facilities, desk staff great. Room service lacking. Cups weren't replaced; bed not completely made; only one trash can; room somewhat dark; internet overpriced. Would stay again for a conference but not for vacation.

No shuttle-gross pool - posted on 07/19/2006
Budget is important to us, so we did not plan on paying for transportation to museums or downtown. Unfortunately, the shuttle was having mechanical problems, and was out of service for the length of our stay. A taxi to the museums cost $10. Speaking to the manager did no good - the least they could have done was give us a taxi voucher or a credit on our bill. Very disappointing. Also, the pool needs a major cleaning - it's gross.

Great location, very good room service, comfortable room, friendly and helpful personnel. Internet speed was very slow though, considering the amount they charge.

The decor was the only good thing about my room. There was not enough lighting in my room. With all the lights on my room and bath were still dark in the evening. Bathroom had no place to put anything.
Great Hotel for Families - posted on 07/07/2006
We stayed in the hotel with our 3 and 5 year old boys. The hotel was extremely clean and the hotel staff was friendly. It was amazing at how well managed this hotel was considering they have close to 2000 hotel rooms.
Confusing hotel - posted on 07/06/2006
I was at this hotel for two nights and never did figure out the laid out. Several sets of elevators. Very confusing. Also, we happened to be there during a big White Sox event, and the staff was focused on the event and not the other guests. We were not as close to the Magnificent Mile as I thought we would be. Rooms were nice though, and the bed/pillows were great. However, I would not stay here again. Too expensive.

Overall nice hotel. Ice machines are noisy and walls are fairly thin. Bed was comfy with lots of pillows. Big Bar and the drinks are neat. You can share one here for what it would cost you for one somewhere else. Weber Grill is one of my favorites for food too.
Very happy with my stay - posted on 06/07/2006
The location of the hotel was ideal, we could walk many places nearby, and when needed, cabs were readily available out front. Service at the hotel was very good and the room was large and comfortable. The only disappointment was there was no pool or hot tub that had been listed on the amenities.

As soon as we entered the hotel, we smelled cigarette smoke. It wafted throughout the hotel, and as we entered our room it lingered. A miserable night was spent trying to sleep. We switched hotels as soon as we could.

Hotel is in a great location, only one block east of Michigan Avenue, directly on the river. Rooms are nice size with probably the most comforable bed I have slept in in a hotel. Very tastefully decorated as well.

This hotel has a "nightclub dancefloor" in the middle of the lobby! Seems like a pretty odd place to have one. It's also very busy and as such, may not appeal to those looking for quiet ambience. Internet isn't free which surprised me.
it was a great visit - posted on 05/18/2006
Nice room and nice people at the desk. I wish breakfast was included but I did the buffet ($20/person) anyways. The only thing that upseted me was that the internet was $10/day... I wasn't about to pay that. So, I carried my laptop for nothing...

Not the best - posted on 03/20/2006
Not the best experience. Attended a conference in Chicago and stayed at the Hyatt because of the Hyatt name. Mistake. Could not turn off the heat, no hot water, put me in a room next to the elevator and it sounded like jets were taking off outside my room. Drinks expensive. Food only acceptable. Will not stay again unless the rates are low.

Service not that great, compared to other Hyatt Regency's we've stayed. Feels like a MEGA hotel/Convention Center in the lobby. Thousands of people running around heading to seminars (at least 10-15 held daily, it seems)

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 2 nights. Location was great, hotel itself was within walking distance of almost everything. Resteraunts and Bars in hotel were outrageous ($20 for 2 drinks). Parking was insane (80 bucks for 2 nights)
Great location & staff - posted on 08/23/2005
The huge building was very clean and looked as if it had been recently redecorated. It's located in the heart of the downtown area, convenient to everything. The concierge staff was incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable and helped maximize our time in the city. I'd like to see a swimming pool and larger workout facilities, but realize that might be problematic for such a large hotel. The friendliness of the housekeepers, reception staff, and especially the concierges convinced me that this is the only place to stay in downtown Chicago.
PARKING - posted on 08/22/2005
Everything was beautiful at the Hyatt except for the fact that parking at the hotel cost $39 a day. No one made us aware of this until the next day when I went to get my car from valet. When we arrived the day before to check in the sign for valet was not visible because of the traffic from all the other guest trying to check in. So, therefore the sign was blocked and the valet attendant never made us aware of the price.
Acceptable but has problems - posted on 08/13/2005
Although our rooms were nice and the mattresses nice and firm, we were somewhat disappointed in this Hyatt. $9.95 a day for internet access and a buck for local phone calls is an insult at a high-end hotel like this one. We tried the hotel's pizza restaurant and also their breakfast buffet: both had bland, uninspired food not worth the bother. Rooms are not well soundproofed from the hallways. Also, the concierge did not give accurate or complete information about local dining and events. I would not return here unless I got a very good room rate.

The hotel was very nice and had a good atmosphere. The service at check in/out was friendly and fast. The room was neat and comfortable. I liked the cleanliness and modern appearance of the room. I especially enjoyed the booklet that featured many places to see and eat in Chicago. It was helpful in deciding what to do in Chicago. However we didnt have a good view. We felt like the office building across could see everything within the room. Overall...I liked my stay.

First time in Chicago so I can't really compare this to other hotels in the area. However, My check in wasn't until 3 pm and front desk had room ready for me at 11:00!! This is a large hotel so expected impersonal service but front desk very helpful (even gave me maps); BIG bar makes great martinis but needs expanded menu; breakfast buffet was very nice but pricey--rooms very comfortable + modern (wish windows were bigger though); only real complaint was you could hear the pipes running all the time. A very pleasant hotel experience overall.
