This is a beautiful hotel in the north end of the Downtown area, a short 20 minute walk down to the waterpower shopping area. The staff was superb, the concierge extremely helpful and I would very highly recommend this hotel. This area is quieter, less crowded and has terrific restaurants and shops very close by.
This hotel is beautiful with lots of "old world charm". The staff was outstanding, too.
There was nothing that we did not like, it was terrific!

Great hotel for a quite stay which is a short stroll away from the best action in Chicago. Eating at the pump room (its restaurant) is a must. The fireplace in the lobby is quite romantic and draws you in. The rooms are of an ok size, the beds are comfortable, and house service is above average / borderline excellent. as far as improvements go: the hotel can leverage its old history more effectively to expand on the "antique" air and old world excellence environment - a few renovations to update the shower heads, carpets, and room accessories may do it well too. I would definitely visit again. Oh to top it off - the price was a steal.
The restaurant is fantastic. The lobby's fireplace is romantic. The antique air is intriguing.
Needs some renovation and additional leverage of its old impressive history.

My wife and I were impressed with the decor of the hotel as soon as we checked in. The staff was professional. We felt at home. This hotel is unlike the new and fancy ones so if you want a relaxing stay this is the one.
Old Victorian decor well kept clean friendly.
Doesn't have a pool or spa price of parking was high.

This is a great place to go to especially if you have a penchant for staying in historic hotels. The place offers exceptional service as well as topnotch amenities that the most discerning of guests will surely love. The rooms are very clean and well-maintained but before you go inside the room you reserved, you should ask about surcharges you might encounter. The internet access, as with any 4-star property, comes with a surcharge.
