Service has slipped quite a lot in recent years, but a few dedicated long-time staffers keep this a great destination
Great Hotel - posted on 04/18/2007
I found a great deal on this hotel at $119 a night and stayed just one night. The weather was horrible but the beds were wonderful. Parking leaves a lot to be desired though.

My wife and I stayed in Chicago during March of 07, We went to enjoy North Michigan Ave and Rush Street. The hotel was clean the room was luxurious. Lovely bed linens, furniture, and Marble/Granite bathroom. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Very Comfortable - posted on 03/13/2007
Beautiful intimate lobby where you can sit and quietly have an after dinner drink or read the paper in the morning. It's like being in a luxurious private living room. The room was very comfortable with two over-stuffed chairs and a nice king bed. On the north end of the Mag Mile with a lot of great shopping and eating nearby. We will stay here again next year.

I was there on business, my bride pleasure. We enjoyed every minute of our stay with the staff doing everything within their power to assure our complete satisfaction. I will stay @ the Whitehall again.

I found the hotel to be sufficient for my stay. nice comfortable beds and living space. The bathroom was quite small, as well as the elevators, but we didn't stay long enough to mind at all. I would return to this hotel.
GREAT HOTEL / BAD VALETS - posted on 08/31/2005
The hotel was great and located in a great location. The car valet service was the worst we have ever encountered. Most of the time when we called for our vehicle it took atleast 45 minutes to get it. Several times they forgaot we had called for it or lost our keys.

Great downtown location!! RIght across from John Hancock Bldg. Room and bathroom are small. Bathroom needs to be updated. Carpeting in hallway soiled. Otherwise a great price and so close to everything!
Some things GREAT, some things not so great - posted on 07/07/2005
I stayed here with my sister-in-law in June for a girls weekend away. The hotel has an old world charm. The recommendations from the concierge for both theater and dining were EXCELLENT. Unfortunately, our phone didn't work the entire time we stayed and even though the front desk sent someone up to look into it, it was never resolved. The room was beautiful but the walls are a bit thin. The concierge made our trip fantastic, however, so I would return just to work with him again.
Ratings - posted on 04/10/2005
The hotel is fine and the price was excellent, but not what you would expect for 4 stars. The bathroom fixtures were old and the lighting was nonexistent. The bellman said I should remove the plastic grid to see better. Carpet was dirty, wall paper was peeling.
