Magnificent on the Mile - posted on 02/20/2007

We stayed here while on a week-end getaway to celebrate of daughters B-day. We had a simple check-in. Self-parking was very clode and affordable. Our room had a great view that overlooked to city and and the beauty of an ice covered lake in the distance. We were quit impressed with the elevators, a total of over 12 to navagate you through the hotel. Fitness and pool facilities were open to fulfill all scheduals. Staff was found throught the building to help with any issues. Was also located in heart of the shopping district on the Mile. We will stay here again. Great Job Marriott!!!

Unhappy - posted on 07/07/2006

I was very dissapointed with my stay at this hotel. I have to emphasize the problem with the speed of the elevators. At one time we waited for 20 minutes for the elevator. The line for the elevators wrapped around the lobby like a line at a amusement park! People were waiting 40 minutes for an elevator. The hotel lobby is very large and always busy with activity, the lounge and bar are part of the lobby. If you want intimacy this hotel is not for you.The staff also was unfriendly 3 security officers rudely asked us to leave the spa 15 min. prior to closing. I will never stay at this hotel again!

Great location...hotel needs improvement - posted on 12/07/2005

This hotel is a great pick for a holiday shopping visit. The location is prefect! On the other hand, there are several areas in need of improvement. First, sound proofing. Even if your neighbors are quiet, you can hear every word! This is a very busy hotel and the elevators are slow and do not keep up with the demand. Finally, the fitness room is too small for the hotel. Between the hours of 7-9 a.m., you must wait to be able to use a machine! Not sure if all justifies the room rates!

Had a terrible room could hear elevators all night. No directions concerning elevators, therefore all take same requiring looong waits.

My experience... - posted on 09/17/2005

This property was in an excellent location, within walking distance to most of Chicago attractions. The front desk staff was very welcoming with the exception of one employee: First, this ?star? employee had us return after 4:00 p.m. to check-in, followed on the second day with an offer to triple the original rate. Consequently, we had to find another hotel. Overall a good value, but we might not return to this property.

nice hotel - posted on 08/16/2005

Went shopping for the weekend. Hotel was CLEAN and beds VERY comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was low. Starbucks in the lobby was good. Nice place to stay. Forget shopping for the "knock off" purse place, its a rip-off. Not a sale price! We had a beautiful dinner at Rivas at the pier (upstairs is $$) but VERY nice. Overall great trip.

VERY SMALL KING ROOMS - posted on 08/02/2005

The hotel was clean. The King room was very small. The elevators were extremely slow. You had to take the elevators up just to go down if you hit them during checkout time. The location was great for MI shopping and a short walk to Navy Pier. I would stay here again but just not in a king room.

Good Vaule in Chicago, Mile. - posted on 08/01/2005

As soon as you set foot in the lobby, I knew this hotel was the best. The oil paintings and marble all over the place. The rooms were nice we had a great view. The beds were wonderful. It was like sleeping on air. The service was great.

Great location - posted on 11/02/2004

This hotel has a great location within walking distance to the Art Institute, and shopping on Michigan Ave. We needed to take a short cab ride to other locations (Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, Wrigley Field). The room was noisy (elevator?), we had a problem with the bathroom, which was immediately attended to. I can't say enough about the staff - concierge desk, bellcaps, restaurant staff- all were extremely friendly. Overall a good value, but I might shop around for our return visit.
