The Hyatt Regency McCormick provided a clean, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere. It was easily accessible from the highway and into the city. I will re-visit the Hyatt when traveling to the Chicago area.
Was Very Nice - posted on 05/31/2007
I think this hotel is best for those without families and for those who fly in and not drive. Parking was outrageous!! $24.95 every time you leave and come back or $29.95 a day for Valet Service, but then you have no access to your car. Plus there is no whirlpool and the pool is a 4 ft. deep lap pool. Not family friendly. But the hotel is very nice and the view is incredible.
got what I expected - posted on 04/12/2007
Picked this hotel for a location on southern edge of loop. All was what I expected except was charged twice for parking because we used our car to go out for dinner. The hotel does not permit in and out privileges in parking deck.
Not family friendly - posted on 04/05/2007
Beautiful hotel and staff. The price of the room, does not make up for being un family friendly. The shuttle service was too small .We used cabs and wereovercharged a few times . The restaurants in the hotel were extremely pricey and had long waits. Another problem was intoxicated customers in the hallways late at night. We were next to the ice machine which was notably filled very early in the morning. Our future visits will be closer to downtown and family-frindly establishments.
Too established to care - posted on 03/18/2007
I was told if I joined their Gold Pass Club I would get a coffee maker in my room. Of course, no coffee maker arrived. I think $* a night should automatically qualify a person to have a cup of coffee! My indignation was fueled by the disinterested service of their concierge. Spoke to her twice in two days. Yuck. her surliness (maybe because we had checked out earlier?) sent us directly to the airport rather than experiencing Chicago for the few sacred hours we had free. Thanks for your kindness, Hyatt-lady. P.S. In all fairness, they do have nice mattresses.
Great Experience - posted on 02/20/2007
My husband and I have been to Chicago three times in two months for different events. We were very happy with the room and service. We requested a city and lake view and it was absolutely beautiful. It's so close to Lake Michigan it's great for running or walking. The Bears Stadium is within walking distance it was awesome! Bus ride into the city is the way to go, it was cheap and you didn't have to worry about catching a cab. All three experiences were incredible.
Not so good - posted on 01/08/2007
I had an unpleasant experience. Overall, most staff were friendly but some had definite attitude issues. And the rooms were not clean (used menus, socks, etc) and smelled funny. I can't tell if this was an isolated experience or if it is symbolic of the overall state of the hotel.
Nice hotel, but too expensive - posted on 12/27/2006
The hotel was very nice and the staff was good. However, after paying $* to stay one night, I was very displeased to find out I had to pay $24 for one night of parking. Also, there was no free breakfast. I could've stayed at a motel for $50 a night, free parking, and a free breakfast!
Great hotel, far from the action - posted on 12/18/2006
The room was very neat and clean. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. It's about 3 miles or a $10 cab ride from downtown. I would have preferred a hotel within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops, but it was very quiet which is a plus. Make sure you eat before heading back to your room, no restuarants close by. As a business traveler, I hate paying additional for internet access.
Mixed feelings - posted on 09/09/2006
This is a BEUTIFULL hotel!! It is HUGE!! It is set up for the business traveler, with everything you could ever need. To out shock the room need a more then a few repairs. The bathroom sink dripped non-stop and the curtains were comming off the wall!! The staff in genreal was very professional. They do offer a free shuttle to diff. points of interest, but it only runs on the hour and fills up hours befor hand. We were there three days and NEVER able to use it!!
very nice stay - posted on 09/04/2006
Our family (my husband, myself, and four teenagers) stayed a weekend. We were in Chicago for a shopping trip. Our room was very clean and service was impeccable. We would definitely stay again. We had a king room with an ajoining room with double beds. There is nothing bad I could say about our stay. We were very happy. : )
everthing good except for cleaning - posted on 06/21/2006
I reserved a room for 1 King size bed, but when I arrived they asked if a 2 double bed would be OK. I didn't feel good about it, though they did find a room. The scenary was great but I found hair here and there, an unused towel was also stained with sthg like face powder and one of the cusion was also not clean.
Outstanding - posted on 06/14/2006
My family and I stayed here for the weekend and we are all happy with the hotel. Since it is slightly off the beaten path, my children were able to sleep through the night without interuption. The mini store near the lobby is very convienent. *** the bellhop is an outstanding employee who truely understands customer service.
Nice Hotel, Bad location - posted on 06/10/2006
It was a very nice hotel. Nice bar and nice staff. Only problem was that it was so far from downtown and while there was public transportation, it was not always reliable
Satisfied Customer - posted on 03/28/2006
I loved the hotel's location even though it is not in downtown, it is still very convenient. The only thing I would suggest is to not get a room hear the elevators, as these rooms tend to be noisy. Other than that I enjoyed everything else.
Da Bears - posted on 12/22/2005
I had tickets to the Bears game, we were able to walk to and from the game from the hotel and not have to worry about traffic and parking.
Very Disappointed - posted on 11/22/2005
We stayed on a Friday night. Service was good. Rooms have a tiny bathroom no exhaust fans. Parking very over priced. Can hear your neighbors and anything happening in the halls. The only place to eat since the food court at mcCormick was closed is the very overpriced dining room with food I could have made better at home.
New Years Stay - posted on 10/18/2005
We stayed last winter over New Years weekend, got our room on Priceline for $69. While not on the "mag mile" the hotel shuttle will take you to Navy Pier and the bus is a quick 10 minute ride to downtown. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean. The New Years Eve band was good, but the restautrant did not have enough waitstaff, over an hour before someone approached our table! But the next morning the brunch was good. An overall good experience. I'd stay here again.
see it all, hear it all - posted on 07/11/2005
We stayed 3 nights on the 25th floor and it was a beautiful view of the harbor and city. The room was spacious, clean and nice. Unfortunately I could hear any neighbor's TV, phone calls, showers, etc. On Saturday morning the hotel was steam cleaning the hall at 9:00am making a huge racket! I'd stay again only because of a convention.
Rude staff - posted on 06/20/2005
Our experience with everyone except the "front desk" was excellent. I felt those at the front desk were short, curt and almost rude.
1st trip to Chicago. - posted on 06/16/2005
We stayed here on our first trip to Chicago; is was a great place to stay.
Nice Hotel, Less than great location - posted on 06/08/2005
As a hotel, the Hyatt was very nice. It is pretty remote if you want to do all the downtown things and it isn't real close to the CTA. If you are there for a convention, that is the place you need to stay since it is connected to that mammoth convention center. Parking rates are WAY too high. I found the staff to be very nice and helpful.
Mixed reviews. - posted on 05/09/2005
First the good- the staff is very professional. Rooms are clean. Hotel is very quiet, you don't hear your neighbor flush, etc. Now the bad- parking is outrageous. They say $24 for 24 hour period, but not if you leave and come back. Inflated first hour rates mean in one night we spent $44 on parking. Miles away from anything , you are much better off spending more for a hotel on the miracle mile.
Nice hotel - posted on 04/01/2005
Valet and self parking are both expensive with no other options close by.
Best Kept Secret - posted on 02/11/2005
We really enjoyed our stay and the staff was always kind and courteous. Wanted a unique experience and the concierge suggested La Maison du Parfum on Oak Street and that had to be the best kept secret revealed to us in any city we've ever received. Thanks Hyatt!!
