Lovely historical hotel - posted on 01/05/2007
We had a lovely 3 night stay at The Drake over New Years. There were a few disappointments though. We booked in October and called the hotel for New Year's Eve info which they had none at the time. When we called back in December, the party was sold out and we could not even eat at the main hotel restaurant. Housekeeping left something undone each night. But the room was spacious and nicely appointed and the hotel is beautiful with a great location convenient to shopping and restaurants. Don't miss the Coq d'Or for martinis and the hamburger!
rooms were very disappointing - posted on 11/22/2006
The common areas are beautiful, but the rooms need a lot of updating. The bathroom ceiling was peeling, and the counterspace is very small. The woodwork is chipped and the room felt dark and shabby. Also it was roasting hot all night and the window wouldn't open. Not worth the money.
Not perfect for executive suite - posted on 09/09/2006
I paid for an executive suite for one night on a trip that I was limited on time with. First thing is I booked a lakeview and got a city view, city room was nice with two bathrooms and sofa, lakeview (that I had to pay $10 more to get) was tiny. Both rooms needed minor maintaince and the carpet in the lakeview needed to be cleaned. Not worth the money for the nicer room.

We normally stay in the fitzpatrick which is now the Afiania which is really nice but the drake is outstanding when you walk into the lobby you feel like a king or queen we stayed in a king family suite which was very, very large with a king bed two murphy beds a sitting area, a view of the lake and much more. And the location is another one of its best amenities. I give this hotel 5 stars!!!
Very classy hotel - posted on 02/20/2006
We stayed at The Drake Hotel over during Christmas time and found the staff and hotel to be fabulous. The only problem we had was that the heater in our room would not turn off and our room stayed very hot. We were able to open the window and it helped, but the maintenance staff could not get the heat to adjust.

Love the Drakie - posted on 12/19/2005
The holiday spirit was everywhere, food was superb-EXCEPT FOR THE DRAKE BROTHERS RESTAURANT. Steak overcooked, tough. Whitefish tasted a little off.We spent last Christmas at the Drake and this Thanksgiving. Loved every moment.
Very Nice - posted on 05/29/2005
My wife and I just loved this place. The decor is older and more traditional, but our room was big and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and courteous. Lots of shopping and great restaurants nearby. Restricted flow shower head was annoying.

A little disappointing - posted on 03/18/2005
When I got to the hotel, I found that the room I got was much different than how I reserved it. It said that my room would face the street, but it was actually on the first floor facing the air conditioning units outside. The most upsetting thing was that when I arrived, I saw that I was charged $70 more than what the original price was online. I explained the situation, but had to deal with difficult staff members. The managers and staff were both cold and changed my opinion of the Drake a great deal
My experience... - posted on 02/14/2005
The rooms are tiny, the carpet and walls were stained. they stuck me by the fire escape in a tiny tiny room. The manager was rude...
Needs Facelift - posted on 12/31/2004
Great location and history within the building, but the hotel needs a facelift. It's starting to show it's age and the staff was below expectations
