Cold days in Chicago - posted on 02/23/2007
Spent a great late Valentines in Chicago. The Fairmont has very well trained staff and the Concierge made great recommendations. Be sure to try the Sunday jazz brunch at Bistro 110 on E/ Pearson @ Michigan. Walking distance from the Fairmont.

Enjoyed a brief, one-night stay here. Room was large and lovely with a partial lake view. Elegant lobby. Convenient location. Staff was extremely pleasant and very helpful . Gracious service throughout. Would stay here again.
The best in Chicago!!!!!! - posted on 10/14/2006
This hotel is the best of the best. It is expensive, but it is worth it. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in!! A must see!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check it out.
Very good all around - posted on 09/18/2006
Reading the negative review, makes me wonder if they stayed at the same hotel that we did. I thought this hotel was tops in almost every area. We were very comfortable and felt pampered by the service. The restaurant off the lobby was OUTSTANDING! And the restaurant service was even better. The Fairmont is CLASSY all the way around
Wonderful Experience at the Fairmont - posted on 09/08/2006
My sister and I had a wonderful time in Chicago during the Labor day weekend. The hotel staff was very help and extremely friendly. The concierge desk was able to meet our needs with pointing us in the direction of local eateries and possible expereinces to have. You cannot beat the location of the hotel...you are about a 10 minute walk from the Art Institute and a train ride from the Field. The room was well kept and we had a fantastic view of the lake. We could even see the fireworks at the Navy Pier from the room! Thank you for a great experience!
Not worth a 4 star rating - posted on 02/17/2006
The rooms are not maintained well at all, the baseboards are dusty, the shower tile is stained and dirty, and the carpets were stained. We stayed in a suite and every morning while blow drying my hair the breaker flipped and we had to call maintenance to get it turned back on, and it took them over an hour each time. Not very convenient to have no electricity when you are on a tight time schedule to get to morning meetings. Room service breakfast was barely edible; the toast, bacon and eggs were all burnt and coffee was stale. I expected better quality from a four star hotel

Great hotel. Excellent service and location. Love the bed and the view of the lake and Navy Pier. We could walk to the magnificent mile! Service was superb!

Great location and a truely wonderful staff. Had a lakeside view overlooking Navy Pier that was breathtaking even lying in bed!We were on the 20th floor and at 2am needed ice and the machine was out. We called and within 5 minutes a bucket arrived. Concierg was extemely knowlegeable, all you have to do is ask. I have stayed at others around downtown not as luxurious but the friendliness of the staff makes up for it. Watch for bargains though, not a $300 room.
Room conditions were a surprise! - posted on 10/10/2005
Considering this is a four star hotel, I was very disappointed with the well-worn condition of my room. The carpet was stained and the room had a powderery aroma upon entering each day. Hair dryers were low quality and over heated after a few minutes of use. The bed spread was so overworn and faded that it folded at the foot of the bed each day by the maid service! For the price, this room was not at all what I would have expected. I would not recommend this hotel.

First visit to Chicago, and we were very happy with the Fairmont. Staff very helpful, bar has a good atmosphere, and our room was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again! In room service for breakfast was first class!

Wonderful hotel at a great price right off the "Magnificent Mile." May make this Chicago trip a holiday tradition.
3-Star Quality at best - posted on 01/01/2005
This hotel is by far the worst 4-star rated hotel I have ever stayed at. Service was poor 90% of the time, beds were 2-star. Ordered 2 hot-fudge sundaes from in-room dining. Fifteen minutes to deliver turned into 1 hour. The $13 sundaes were 2 small scoops of liquer-tasting vanilla ice cream with a bowl of Hershey's syrup and cheap whip cream on the side. The dining service even said it was "on its way' 15 minutes before it arrived (aka, they made it after I called when it was 45 minutes late). Needless to say I got my money back from the front desk.

Hotel's location and interiors are very nice! The beds are not that comfy, nor 4-star level quality. Hotel has very few basic amenities that are free; a lot that cost. We also received fair (not good) service, maybe because we were young and didn't dress nicely. I wouldn't stay again.
