disappointing - posted on 02/13/2007
My husband and I went for a weekend getaway, and decided to try the W Lakeshore. The website of the Wave restaurant really caught our eye...it looked incredible...we were disappointed with the whole dining experience. The service was extremely slow...and the food was tasteless and overcooked. The spa was the best part of the trip... we both left feeling like "butter"....the staff was friendly....the showers are fabulous too.

room was dissapointing for a supposed 4 star hotel, no where to sit and eat or watch tv. not up to the standard that they advertise.
Awesome hotel! - posted on 01/25/2007
We were greeted warmly upon arrival! The staff was truly professional and kind. The ambiance was absolutely wonderful! Romantic, soft lighting throughout. The fragrance of the hotel is very calming. The room was very nice! (I'd like the room to be a little better lit, but that's my only complaint). The bed was so awesome, I'm going to call the hotel to ask about a brand name! We had a lake view, and it was breathtaking, even in the winter! At this hotel, we were within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and bars. LOVED IT!

Great hotel to stay. Was there for the 4th of July and there was so much entertainment at the hotel, that we really didn't have to go anywhere. Love the decor. Love the rooms. Very close to Michigan Ave. and the Navy Pier. Need new valet parkers. Our truck was wrecked by one of the valet drivers but they got our check to us within a week. No need to drive, taxis are much better due to traffic.

Stayed here as an Upscale choice and was greatly dissapointed. The fan in our bathroom did not work, their was no room service menu in our room and when we requested one by calling room service direct no one answered. The walls are paper thin and we were awoken at 2:30 a.m. both nights by partiers who must have had 6-7 people in the room next to ours and once at 1 a.m. by the valet who said someone wanted to charge parking to our room we had no car. All in all is a hotel for wanabes the Pottery Barn of Hotels all venner no sunstance.

it was really really great from the breakfast at the wave restaurant (excellent food and really not expensive!) to the design of the hotel and finally to the bliss spa, a real happyness...
Great Weekend - posted on 08/11/2006
The hotel was great - something out of the ordindary - decor was impresssive and the bed was so comfortable with a great view of the lake/navy pier. Great location - walking distance to Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. Would highly recommend this hotel for a special weekend. However, parking was, I felt very pricey - $41.00. Hotel was expensive so thought they could be more reasonable on their parking. But very nice hotel.

We recently stayed at the W and it was fantastic!!!! We were offered an upgrade to an amazing room. The staff was incredible. The hotel was beautiful. The location is perfect. Near the lake and Navy Pier. This is our 2nd visit and we will return!!!
A Perfect romantic Getaway - posted on 05/23/2006
We were looking for a nice place to have a romantic weekend and we found it in this hotel. We enjoyed the view of the lake from our room and were able to enjoy a candlelight dinner in the resturant. We topped it off with a relaxing day at the Bliss Spa. We would definitely stay here again.
Another opportunity to tip - posted on 04/28/2006
We arrived at the hotel with great expectations. The pool was closed. The last day the "wireless" room, where computers, etc. were located, "disappeared" and none of the staff seemed to know what happened. We changed rooms and, in both, several batteries had to be replaced, bath doors fixed, etc., providing multiple tipping opportunities for an eager staff. The concierge and front desk were excellent. The hotel is dark and very noisy, as there are repairs going on to the walls.

A big disappointment. It's noisy, smelly, smokey (even a non-smoking room), tawdry, worn and unkept. Lighting is creepy. Rooms are tiny. Parking is outrageously expensive: $41 a night. Staff was helpful and bed and LCD TV were nice. Otherwise, a big disappointment for a hotel that bills itself as top-notch. There are many other better options in the Windy City.

I thoroughly enjoyed entering the room and hearing the musical CD left on by the hotel staff. It set the tone for my overall experience. The hotel provided many conveniences like a food/gift bar to choose from if you were hungry or didn't have ti

This place was wonderful. The service desk helped us a lot and were very friendly, I loved the hallways they were festive and had awsome decor. I would definitly stay here again. I left my cell phone charger there and I called at 5pm and the man that I talked to was so nice he personaly went to look for it and called me back, he overnighted it and this was at 5pm last night and it came today at 12pm. They also had an awesome bar and resturant area! Very aswome service and hotel!

Decor is excellent, very moden. Rooms are small, a little on the dark side, very subdued. Front desk was excellent.

Very disappointed. Bang not worth the buck. The rooms/halls are dark and spooky and had an obvious "aroma" - to mask a smell? The bad, pulsating technopop music was headache inducing, not ambient.
New Years Eve - posted on 03/31/2005
Stayed here over NYE 05 and the hotel was like a riot. There were so many people that you needed a wristband to get up to your room. At bar close there were 10 minute long lines for the elevators and bouncers letting you into the elevator area. It felt like a horrible student bar, not a nice hotel.
