location was great but... - posted on 05/01/2007
bedding needed improvemtent..wasn't very comfortable. Front desk was a great help and knew the city well to give directions. The heating system in the rooms was a bit loud
Good place to stay - posted on 04/21/2007
We choose this hotel for it's location and reasonable price. It's a great to stay to be within walking distance to the museum complex, Millinium Park and shopping. Easy walk to most of what you want to do. Transportation at your door. Front desk was very helpful & friendly. Guest service call center was short and almost rude when we asked to pick up car. Otherwise, bed was comfortable and room was clean.

Thanks for other folks' review, which helped me a great deal. Every thing good is just as others stated. The front desk allowed us to check in before 3pm after verifying that they had rooms free. Tip: ask the exact number of card keys you need. When they add a key for you later on, it most likely won't work. The encryption of the keys is probably related to the number of keys.
Location was great - posted on 02/17/2007
This hotel was a stones throw away from The Planetarium, Shedd, and Field Museum. Taxi service was extremely conveniant as was other transportation. Hotel was clean; staff was helpful and friendly. We had to park half a block away, truck wouldn't fit in hotel garage. Food in restaurant next door was good, though a bit expensive we thought. Our first trip to Chicago; would stay here again.

The room is pretty small but clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. Location is great: one block from Roosevelt Station and across the Museum Campus.
You get what you pay for - posted on 12/07/2006
We choose this hotel because it's cheap and close to the Bears stadium. I found a great rate, so we couldn?t pass it up. Staff was great, beds were fine, rooms were clean? now the negatives: one elevator was broken the entire weekend (LONG wait for the other), room heater was extremely loud, shower faucet handle broke off. If you stay here, don't get the buffet at the 1st floor... go the Eleven. Its an incredible diner just down the street- great food, great service.
Brief Chicago Visit - posted on 09/12/2006
We stayed only one night and the reservation was as promised and quick check-in. The location was great. We had reservations to see the King Tut Exhibit at the Field Museum and it was withing walking distance. Desk personnel were helpful in giving directions for more inexpensive parking nearby. We also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which we ate in our room because the lobby was crowded. Room was clean and neighborhood O.K.
Dishonest - posted on 07/05/2006
They gave us the wrong room type (1 bed for 3 people) and tried to blame it on *** instead of making it right. When I had *** call them, they finally admitted it was actually because of a water problem and they suddenly had a suite available. Still, we had to pack and unpack in three rooms in two days. Also, internet access was not working in the third room. Maintenance was able to partially fix it (wired but no wireless). Rooms were clean. Location was great.
Good Hotel! - posted on 06/26/2006
I must admit I was a little leery about staying here when I read the previous reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice room, very clean, helpful staff, good location. I asked directions from front desk clerk, very helpful and pleasant. Would stay again.

It was alright but nothing special. Can't stress it enough, location, location location.
Very enjoyable - posted on 12/19/2005
The hotel was great. It was a great location for the Bears game that my brother and I saw. I'd gladly stay there again. The staff was very helpful in any questions that I had regarding restaurants and sites.
Great location, good price, ok service - posted on 10/19/2005
We booked this online but when we arrived, the hotel had our reservations for the wrong days. It was a busy Sunday afternoon & only 1 person working the desk, & the line was very long. Rooms weren?t ready. When we returned, we waited 45min for them to correct the mistake. I requested a crib & had to call again to remind them. Room/bathroom very clean although half the lamps didn't work. Walking distance to museums, staff helped us find cheaper public parking & bus routes to tourist spots. OK neighborhood. Good price but only worth the 2 star rating.
Fair Hotel with Great Location and Price - posted on 08/19/2005
Great location for a great price, but the hotel is not maintained well. Neither the phone nor the blow drier worked in my room. You must also be ready to give a credit card number (not a debit/credit), because they insist on putting a $50 deposit on hold for 30 days. Close to great attractions, though, so it's totally worth it.
Not a Bad Hotel for the Price - posted on 06/22/2005
Hotel is not as bad as the other reviews make it out to be. Staff was very friendly even at midnight when we went to the desk to ask for silverware. The rooms were clean and so was the bathroom, the price was right. The breakfast was not great for the price they offered, we didn't eat there. Cannot complain at all about this hotel or the staff. Would stay there again.

hotel is nothing fancy. just a place to lay your head and that's about it. forget about the pool it's the size of a oversized tub. room was not the cleanest but it was a bargain and close to everything I needed to see.
uncomfortable - posted on 03/14/2005
reserved non smoking, got smoking room. parking full, 172 rms, 50 parking spaces? 3am fight in hall, door slamming ALL night long. We asked to leave day early so an employee began lurking and peaking around corners at us for the rest of the evening. VERY uncomfortable. wouldn stay again. staff uninformed, called ahead with ?'s re-parking and non smoking assured all was fine. NOT!!! They did let us leave early without a penalty. Continental breakfast, dont waste your time.
Not too bad atall!! - posted on 01/07/2005
My friend and I had a ball - Chicago's a super spot and this hotel was certainly in a great location to see all the sites - its located across the road from the Field Museum and Bears Stadium!! And about a 10 min walk from Marshall fields!! there was no problem getting a taxi, and the staff were sound and very polite! The rooms were grand, old-fashioned but everything you need is there. Had a marvellous time, though I reckon next time I'd stay a wee bit closer to the action!
Worst Western - posted on 10/05/2004
The Parking Garage was closed due to structural damage, so the only option was Valet parking for $22.00 a night. The heater in the room blew cold air until I finally had to call maintenance, and the lobby restaurant was vacant, so there was no dining option on premises. This was the worst hotel experience I have had in some time. Guests should not have to pay for parking, especially at such ridiculous rates. I have stayed at Best Westerns in other states, and have never had to pay for parking or felt less like I had the comforts of a hotel available. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
