Worth Every Penny!!! - posted on 02/21/2006
I went there on my own and had a wonderful time, guests were lovely as well as the staff. The food was great and the surroundings were out of this world. Best hotel on the same beach compared to the others.
Absolutely Beautiful... - posted on 06/16/2005
This hotel was absolutely beautiful! It had an amazing pool...waterfalls,a hidden slide, poolside bar and a draw bridge to get from one side to the other...The only people that I can think of that will have a better time than the kids on the slide...are the adults! This hotel is suitable for groups of all kinds...My family & I enjoyed it so much -- We already booked our next vacation...The Luau was by far the best one of the whole vacation...its a must if you plan on attending one! -Looking foward to our next trip!!
Needs updating - posted on 05/17/2007
Returned from 6 nights at the Hyatt on May 13. As others have said, the grounds are beautiful and the most "Hawaiian" of the Kaanapali resorts. Service and food were excellent. However, the rooms and common hallways are desperately in need of updating - they reminded us of a run of the mill convention hotel, complete with popcorn ceilings. Spatz, the italian themed restaurant, looks like it was designed in 1980 and never updated.
A really Great Place! - posted on 05/17/2007
I went here on vacation with my family, which was me and my husband, our 3 kids and my mother. It was the best place. I don't think I can complain about anything. The restaurants where a bit expensive but ha it's Hawaii....your on vacation. Anyway the kids pool area is perfect. My kids never wanted to leave. The beach is gorgeous and the cabanas are a dream. The rooms where clean and great to go back to after a long day in the sun. This place is five star all the way. We plan to go back for sure!!!!
My best vacation to date!!! - posted on 05/13/2007
Absolutely my best vacation to date. The hotel is beautiful, service was excellent, staff very friendly. Pool needs updating, but still very nice. Best bed I have ever slept in for a hotel (second to my own).
Worth every penny! - posted on 03/18/2007
I must first tell you that I am a picky traveler. We went for our honeymoon and loved every minute! The beds, pillows, and linens provided extreme comfort. Food poolside great. Staff always friendly. Pool was beautiful and never crowded. Hyatt's whale watching expedition provided same high level of service. The spa is newly remodeled and beautiful. We booked 7 nights, the stay included breakfast buffet for two every morning. Saved us $52.00 a day for breakfast. Hotel worth every penny. Aloha Maui and enjoy!!!
Not worth the money - posted on 12/29/2006
Took my family for the vacation of a lifetime, Decided to go all out. The grounds are the best around, birds, penguins, wildlife, etc. The rooms just suck. The bathroom door was a sliding door with louvers. Not good for a family, sights or smell, the beds were terrible, not 1 good night of sleep. I was disappointed to say the least. Stay somewhere with a good bed, then pay for the grounds.

This was a fabulous hotel. Costs more than others but if you like great service, great location to shopping, beach, snorkeling, fantastic pools, shopping, tropical gardens and various exotic animals then it is worth it. Rooms are large and comfy. Nothing I can say bad about this place, with the exception price could always come down but in a package deal it is not that bad. I couldn't imagine staying somewhere else, especially when the purpose of our trip was to pamper ourselves and relax. This was perfect for our vacation.
Great Stay - posted on 10/16/2006
Absolutly the finest vacation we have ever had. The staff are fantastic. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food and the breakfast buffett and Spats is out of this world. Worth every penny spent!
Never again. - posted on 09/27/2006
My husband and I got married on Mekena Beach and we were staying at the Hyatt. It was nice to spend the money on it since it was our honeymoon, but we will never do it again. It wasn't worth it. We had maids and busboys walk in on us in our room four times... the food at the restaurants was okay, but extremely expensive. The view was good, and the area was nice, but hey.. its Hawaii. We decided that in the future, we'll spend less money on a hotel because we enjoy Hawaii too much to stay in the room the whole time.
first visit - posted on 09/21/2006
The hotel grounds were very beautiful, luau was good, beds were the best I've ever slept on. We went on so many tours we didn't really get to enjoy the facilities, maybe next time we'll go just to relax. The only complaint I would have is the $15/day activity fee when we never used them, should be a choice whether or not you want to use them, not just charge everyone whether you use them or not.

The hotel is beautiful, and the service was wonderful. We loved the breakfast buffet at Swan Court, and dinner at Spats.

My room was upgraded from a non view to partial ocean view which was good. the floor should be mooped after guest leave
Highly Recommended - posted on 09/14/2006
My girlfiriend and I just returned and the oceanfront view from the room was outstanding. The rooms & hotel overall were modern and well maintained. We walked to Black Rock for excellent snorkeling. The hotel pool was huge with a water slide and good drink service. Lahaina is only 5 minutes or so away by car for more dining and shopping. We had an excellent trip and we would defintitely stay here again. Have a good time on your trip!
Maui or Bust - posted on 09/11/2006
The Hyatt Regency in Maui was a great choice! The facility is definitely 4 star and the treatment is supurb. The grounds, wildlife, tropical gardens, room, support staff, restaurants, all great. the Luau required a long wait in a hot summer line unless you paid extra for VIP. I will give this hotel my first choice again.
Great Resort - posted on 09/09/2006
First and foremost, the location is fantastic. Kaanapali Beach is great and its close proximity to Front Street Lahaina is key. This enables for a fun, relaxing day in the sun followed by a solid night life. The pool is awesome, the staff were freindly and helpful, and the Swan Court Buffet is AWESOME--You want it, they had it with Swans and waterfalls to boot. The Gardens were nice and Christopher the Makaw is the coolest bird you'll ever meet. The guy smiles 24/7. I highly recommend this resort.

This hotel is just fabulous! My boys ages 8, 10 and 55 really loved the pool! It was massive! We have an experience that we will never forget. The staff was nice and friendly and accommodating. We want to move to Maui, we loved it that much! Don't stay anywhere else, this is worth every penny (which is a lot). We can't wait to go back!!! The first thing we saw when we arrived was a rainbow and we knew that this must be "Paradise " and it was! Don't miss this experience!!!

My family stayed 8-nights and each of them were better than the previous. The staff are great and amenities top notch. The swan court buffet is excellent! Our kids 10 and 13 enjoyed the daily schedule of activitites. This resort is first class and we will be challenged to top it on our next vacation. The location is the very best on the beach, I traveled up and down the entire coast. I would stay here again in a minute!!
not much too complain about - posted on 07/27/2006
Hyatt restaurants expensive. Walk to whalers village (shopping and restaurants) - cheaper meals. Sand doesn't go out far- you'll stub toes on rock. Lounges from Hyatt-$40 a day. Should be free (bring your own). Free roll-aways, fridge. Partial ocean view sufficient.Large pool/waterfalls, beautiful gardens. Many lounge chairs around pool. Employees (always) and parrots (sometimes) pleasant and responsive.15 minute walk to black rock (snorkeling). Rentals and activities at kiosks along beach. (parasailing and jet-skiing basically right behind motel.) Close drive to Lahaina.
Supersensational! - posted on 07/18/2006
What a great resort! We loved everything about it, but especially the great location and beautiful grounds. The beach, pool area, and grounds are absolutely idyllic. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are large, comfortable, and immaculate. I did think the $15 a day resort fee was ridiculous. Why not just add it on to the room rate? However, it's a first class resort, and we'd definitely stay there again.

We went to Maui to celebrate a new job. This was my first time and my wife's second trip to Maui. She stayed at the Westin on her last visit. Our rooms were updated and clean, staff was attentive and efficient, the food was overpriced,to be expected, but excellent, pool was beautiful and beach access was the best.

I took my niece for her 14th Birthday. We had a great time. The hotel was great. I assumed we would have a view of the parking lot. But, to our surprise we had the view of the pool and ocean. The room was clean and updated. The only disappointing part was the beach front was not what I aspected. Everything else was great and the people are so helpful and friendly.

Me and the wife went just to get away, The lobby was beautiful, The sushi bar was great, the resturant had some of the best mesio butterfish habachi style, I am not a seafood lover but this was fantastic, a bit pricy but what do you expect, this is Hawaii, if you want cheaper go to Florida.I will definatly go back to the Hyatt, in fact I am planning my next trip there now, you won't be sorry.

We just got back from a 5 day stay at the Hyatt. The beach, pool and grounds of the hotel were wonderful despite the rain that we had during our visit. Room was nice and comfortable. Short walk along the beach to Whalers Village for shopping and eating.
Not impressed - posted on 03/20/2006
The gardens and public spaces are all beautiful. It ends there. The bathroom was crawling with tiny ants. When I complained about it they sprayed some smelly poison around, but the ants came right back. They slap you with a $15/ night hidden charge when you check out, for services that you never even used. It wouldn't have bothered me if they'd mentioned it in the first place. It?s nice enough if you have money to burn, but overall this hotel is a very poor value.
The PERFECT honeymoon - posted on 03/14/2006
This is the only place I will stay in Maui. The breakfast is the best in the world, rooms are gorgeous, beds comfy. We stayed in an oceanview room & moved to a suite, which was astounding. Spa Mona is perfect as well. Book well in advance for best views of the ocean.

This hotel really was so great. My kids who are 3,7,and 10 had such a good time. Us adults could relaxe and be pampered by the great staff or just stare off at the ocean. The room was great. The resturants where great. It was such a great place to stay and I was a little woried about the beach because I had read some reviews but it really was fine. We spent many days there and my kids met lots of new friends. Worth every penny really. Thank you Hyatt.

Maui was great, but my stay at the Hyatt made Maui even better. The people, property and beach location were fantastic. Everything costs $$, but it is well worth the expense. First timers to Maui will not be disappointed with the views, service and everything the property has to offer, including nice rooms!
What a perfect Honeymoon!! - posted on 09/12/2005
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was wonderful. The grounds are breathtaking. The pool was the best around. The food was delicious ( a bit pricey) but you expect that going to Hawaii. The staff helped us plan our excursions. We will definetly return someday.

We went on our recent honeymoon and had the most amazing romantic dinner on the beach, private cabana, private server, amazing food...worth the money if you are celebrating something special. The pool is amazing, the view is stunning...we will return to renew our vows here.

Picture an Oriental garden w/ tropical birds, statues & 3 waterfalls. A nice small gym overlooking the ocean. Kaanapali beach where the hotel is located has a walkway that goes from 1 end to the other of the beach. It takes u from the gym to the pools & restaurants. Its great for a jog or a stroll at night to hear the waves. The pool isn't heated so bet on the water being a bit nippy @ night. The spa is tucked away so you have some privacy while you relax. The Luau was fun & the food was very very good! Not to mention their prompt & friendly service. We plan to return later on this yr.
