We loved the Grand Hyatt! It was like paradise. The grounds are beautiful, and there are some great pools and a salt water lagoon to swim around in. Kids and adults can both have a blast on the 150 ft. Waterslide. The location is pretty central on Kuaui, though most of the island's action seems to be on the east and north shores. The Tide pools restaurant was great! We also did the luau which had a pretty good dinner show, but the food was not up to par for a resort of this caliber (most of the food was alright, but I have to say the kalua pig was excellent!).
Great pools, swimming lagoons, and water slide by the ocean.
Not really much of a swimming beach.

The Grand Hyatt on Kauai is absolutely opulent. And fittingly expensive. The rooms are nicely appointed and the grounds are spectacular. The pool/lagoon areas alone are worth the trip. The on-site restaurants are fantastic as well. The isolated nature of this resort (and most things on Kauai) makes the renting of a car a near-must. Be prepared to spend freely on this trip!

Accommodations
The least expensive rooms have views of the gardens or mountains and cover 606 square feet. There is a choice of one king-size or two queen-size beds. The large marble bathrooms come with separate tub and shower and a hairdryer. Amenities include beverage chillers, coffee maker, Hawaiian Kona coffee, large work area with Internet access, satellite TV and in-room safe. Room service is available 24/7. Amenities offered
The five-acre saltwater swimming lagoons have kayak and flotation rentals and there are two freshwater outdoor pools with connecting river pools. The resort has three tennis courts, pro shop and mountain bike rentals. The health and fitness spa covers 40.000-square-feet and offers Hawaiian beauty therapies and fitness programs. The 18-hole Poipu Bay Golf Course, next to the resort, is home to the PGA Grand Slam. There are 10 restaurants and bars offering different cuisines and every night there is a grand luau.

This is a honeymooners paradise. Many couples who have stayed here were amazed at the quality of the amenities and wonderful service. Words of advice from former guests: The more expensive rooms, with a view of the ocean, are worth the extra money. Families who have stayed here said they never needed to leave the resort since there was so much to do. Minor gripe was that since this is such a large resort there is a lot of walking involved.
