a nice place to stay - posted on 05/27/2007

we had a great time, we had a room for 30 days in waikiki and we would ride mopeds up to turtle bay and stay a few days. We love it there. also scored bud from a waiter

Beauty but Quiet - posted on 05/21/2007

Resort beautiful, rooms big. However DEAD at night. Horseback riding on beach highlight. MUST have car to go exploring. Needs more resort level activities. Enjoy Giovanni's shrimp truck for lunch,Ted's Bakery for breakfast, Haleiwa Joe's for dinner. If overcast drive south 10 minutes to Waimea Beach. Drive Hwy 83 and go around Island. Gorgeous. Regular room fine. Haleiwa very cool. Would return. For QUIET and doing your thing in a place of beauty, TB is for you.

True Aloha Spirit! - posted on 04/21/2007

This resort allows you the chance to experience of the real Hawaii. The spirit of Aloha is alive in the entire staff. The pools, grounds and rooms are well kept, managed and maintained. We recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center and the luau at the resort is really fantastic. One of the best dining experiences ever in my life was at their 5 star restaurant. Their regular restaurant is pretty good, but the buffet is not that great at lunch. We stayed in the Beach Cottages. It was a unique and wondrous experience.

A Great Vacation - posted on 04/07/2007

I researched very hard for a great place to stay for my first Hawaii experience. Turtle bay resort did not let me down. I went snorkeling and horse backriding on their private beach. The food was great and the rooms were nice. The resort was nice and peaceful. Make sure you rent a car so that you can explore the island.

Good location - posted on 04/02/2007

We wanted to get away from Waikiki, but stay in a resort on North Shore. It was a great home base to see the North shore and everything not in Waikiki. Food prices are high at TBR so we ate at Foodland, and the food stand at Shark's Cove. Excellent food! Hired private surf instructor and surfed Chun's reef and TBR, which was good for June waves. Snorkeled and did it all. Bring your own racket if you want to play tennis, their racket loaners are trashed.

STAYED AT TBR 3/07. GREAT LOCATION. ATTENTIVE STAFF. NEEDS BETTER AIRCONDITIONING /DEHUMIDIFIER IN ROOM. DINING NEEDS MORE DIVERSITY. GO OFFSITE FOR BETTER DINING AT MUCH BETTER PRICES. OLHA'S LUNCH PRICES BETTER THAN OTHERS. MANY PETTY ADDON CHARGES! HELI-TOUR RESCHEDULED 4 TIMES THEN CANCELLED!!!

If you want to stay on the North Shore, this is it! Close to mny beaches famous for surfing (Sunset, Pipeline, Waimea Bay), the place is total magic! I can't stand Honolulu and won't stay anywhere but TBR!

Dream Vacation, It Was Better Than I Imagined - posted on 03/08/2007

I have always dreamed of visiting Hawaii. While traveling I hoped I did not build myself up for a big let down. I was not disappointed. Turtle Bay was the perfect place to stay I almost never left the Resort

TBR Honeymoon - posted on 12/05/2006

We stayed at TBR from 10/09-10/17. We loved the resort, dining and all the views of the ocean. We plan to return in a year. Would recommend this resort to anyone that would like to see true Hawaii.

Awsome - posted on 11/03/2006

We stayed at TBR for our honeymoon. We enjoyed 21 degress, leilei's and Ola's. Be sure to go to hang-ten and get a "Turtle" drink....best vacation ever. We are planning to go back withiin the year

Not a 4-Star Hotel - posted on 10/20/2006

It seems as tho the $32 million renovation ignored the rooms. Air conditioning smells mildewy - like an old swamp cooler, and makes the room damp and uncomfortable. We had trouble sleeping. When we asked for another room - we were ignored. Don't get stuck in a suite on the corner with a view of the roof. Service is reluctant and slow. The setting is gorgeous - but 1/3 of the rooms do NOT have the Turtle Bay view. Also - lots of kids and non-disciplining parents. We left after one night.

Loved Turtle Bay - posted on 10/18/2006

It was absolutely wonderful experience. TBR is about an hours drive from Waikiki or Honolulu, but it is worth it. The staff was attentive and courteous. We loved the ability to be able to walk right to the beach. Ola's, LeiLei's and 21 degrees north...Awesome restaurant and great ambiance and best seafood. Be sure to go to Hang-Ten and order the Turtle drink as well as the Mai-Tai...they are the best. We are planning on going back in 5 years.

Not for Honeymooners - posted on 06/08/2006

We stayed at Turtle Bay for our honeymoon and it was a huge mistake. Kids everywhere and NO night entertainment at all. After dinner the place shuts down. Good for people that want to totally relax, but will drive the normal younger couple insane.

A Dream Setting - posted on 06/07/2006

We had read some negative reviews about this property but during our May 2006 could find no supporting evidence for those comments. This property is excellent - beautiful, relaxing. Didn't want to leave, would return again. LARGE rooms. Great bathrooms. Multiple restaurant options; ignore the reviews that mentioned food limitations - there were no limits. Great experience - worth every cent!

FABULOUS - posted on 05/30/2006

This hotel is always consitent... the service; food; rooms; staff... top notch! Love the viewsfrom all rooms. Plenty to do and see. Visit the Original Kahuku Shrip truck while there. It's a way down the road next to Bank of Hawaii.

Best place we've ever stayed - posted on 04/29/2006

We stayed at Turtle Bay after we had been in Maui and much prefered it to the atmosphere at the Westin. The views of the ocean were incredible, the wait staff sincerely friendly, and the rooms were very nice and well-maintained. The dining was very good and not terribly expensive for Hawaii (room-service pizza was inexpensive and excellent). Miles of walking trails along the beach were incredible! Loved it!

Paradise - posted on 01/16/2006

We still dream about our stay at Turtle Bay. The view and sound of the ocean were the most amazing! The free snorkeling right at the resort was great, and the food at 21 degrees north (buffet) was incredible. The bathroom was nice, but not as nice as the rest of the resort.

Disappointed - posted on 12/19/2005

We stayed here expecting a 4 star hotel, but that's not what we found. Hotel feels old, low ceilings in lobby, rooms are sparse, wait service within hotel was mediocre. However, the views from the rooms are terrific. Pool area very small and crowded. Golf course has only last two holes near the ocean. Go to Lei Lei's to eat, very good and service was fantastic. Make a reservation, though.

Stay here if you can!! - posted on 02/22/2005

We stayed in a "cheap" hotel in Laie for a couple of nights so we could justify a night here and it was fantastic. They voluntarily gave us a free upgrade to a suite. There are no bad views from here. Fitness room excellent. Pools and hottubs thoughtfully designed but need to be heated for cool times like last week. Hiking trails very enjoyable and snorkeling beach a nice perk. Wish we had planned to stay longer!! Very quiet and refined but still comfortable and friendly.
