Amazing hotel, fabulous location - posted on 04/20/2007
I stayed in an Ocean view room in the historic Banyan wing. The room was fantastic! It was spacious, had high ceilings, a large wardrobe, good sized bathroom, and a bed that cured me of insomnia for the duration of my stay. The hotel itself is stunning and the location is one of the best in Waikiki. The private beach area, with full amenities included, is fabulous. The courtyard, with the famous Banyan tree, provides a tranquil respite from your day in the sun.

You are in the middle of the action at this warm welcoming hotel. They greet you in the lobby with fresh juice, hot towels, free postcards and leis. My family LOVED this hotel!

Tower rooms are comfortable, clean, spacious and luxurious. The view was amazing we felt like royalty the way we were treated at check-in.
Not a party hotel but still a nice place to stay - posted on 03/10/2007
This place is for couples. Stayed in the Banyan rooms. Nice ocean view and the courtyard where live music is performed. Room was kinda small. Nice location, beach right in the back nicer part of the beach too. Across the street is the intl' market. Had freinds stay in the tower wing in the PH floor those rooms are nice. Being on top the partial ocean view beat out the banyan ocean front. All in all good stay here.
New outlook on Standard Room - posted on 09/27/2006
The Sheraton Moana Surfrider is simply georgous, however their rooms and hallways are less then standard. The hotel is less appealing once you exit the evelator and head to the room.
I Would Definitely Go Back - posted on 09/19/2006
I recently got married in Hawaii and we stayed at the Moana. It was top-notch, very luxurious, old world charm with all the modern amenities. I was so gald that we chose it. I would come back again. Sunset dinner on the Veranda was perfect!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel 2 days before and 1 day after going on a cruise out of Honolulu for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely beautiful inside and out. We stayed in the tower wing overlooking the ocean on the 17th and 18th floor. The view was phenomenal and the rooms were very nice. The bed and the pillows are so comfortable. We stayed in the suite for the 1 day and it was very nice, but the other room we stayed in was nice and clean, too. They both had an awesome view of the ocean. I have no complaints.

Two adults, 3 children, ages 8, 11, 12. Loved the location. Very accomodating staff when asked for assistance. They made us feel like one of the "high rollers." Very nice lobby and lounge. Liked the nightly entertainment on the veranda. Negatives: 1) The room was consistently cleaned after 5pm. Not very convenient when you return to your room several times before dinner and don't have clean towels. 2) No mention, ANYWHERE, that beach chairs and lounges can be reserved 24 hrs in advance (found out on last day - big bummer for a large family spending most of their time on the beach).
We had a great time - posted on 08/14/2006
rfrider was a great hotel. Everyone treated us with respect and concern. The hotel was situated on Kalakaua avenue, the main stretch in Waikiki. The hotel was situated right on the beach. It offered us tours, trips, and cruiese around the island. It was really nice going to sleep hearing the ocean waves at night. Overall, we had a great time.

the hotel is beautiful, the hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was clean, even though it had two twin beds and considered small it was perfect for me and my daughter, with the view of the ocean. And the air conditioning worked fine. And I can't wait to go back.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. - posted on 07/31/2006
I was impressed from the moment I walked into the Surfrider's beautiful facility until I left three days later. The staff was friendly and extremely attentive, the building is gorgeous, the location is perfect, and the rooms were charming and extremely comfortable (with perhaps the most comfortable bed I've ever experienced). The rooms were a bit small, which might make family travel difficult, but the for the single traveler, the size was just fine - and the veiws out the window certainy made up for room size.
Not as expected - posted on 07/12/2006
There are 3 wings to the hotel. Make sure you do not stay at the diamond wing! The rooms are tiny, the a/c is loud, and the facility of this wing including elevator is terrible. It is definitely not worth the money for our stay. The room service, housekeeping, and other services in general are definitely not meeting the standard for its price. If you want a typical hotel stay to spend the night and not care much about the service than this would be ok for you. The pool, beach front and entertainment are fine though.
THE BEST - posted on 06/02/2006
This hotel had great customer service from the moment you arrive. We had a beach view w/ small balcony - absolutely beautiful and soothing to hear the ocean waves at night. Reserved area on the beach for hotel customers - not crowded, very comfortable. Room was clean. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. I have vowed to only stay at this hotel on Waikiki Beach.
hotel was the best part of our trip! - posted on 05/11/2006
Had to go to Hawaii for a funeral. The hotel was wonderfully accomodating. loved the lei & juice greeting and the cold towels and pineapple by the pool. after long stressful days with the family it was great to come back to my free upgraded partial-oceanview room and extra comfortable bed and pillows.
Disappointment - posted on 05/03/2006
I am a starwood preferred guest and have stayed at many sheraton hotels. I was disappointed that we members are put in the old section of the hotel. Bathrooms are tee-tiny and rooms smell musty and old. If that is ambiance, I guess we had it. There are newer sections to the hotel that I know to ask for next time, if I go back.
Never Again - posted on 04/22/2006
We are seasoned Hawaii visitors and Starwood Gold members. The hotel was a major disappointment and the ac never did work after 3 calls to the front desk. We were unpleasantly surprised by everything. No greeting, no lei, no ready room, not up to our standards.
Sheraton Moana Review - posted on 04/03/2006
Absolutely beautiful hotel with great location. The staff and amenities were all wonderful. Bathrooms are small but rooms are spacious. Great hotel for couples wanting a romantic vacation. Not a lot of activities for children and not an environment condusive to kids' energy levels when inside.

My husband and I have 3 teenage daughters and have been to Hawaii 5 times. The Moana Surfrider is by far the nicest Hotel we've been to and will be happy to stay again and again. No need to look any further.
Excellent Value - posted on 09/13/2005
I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The rooms were exceptionally clean, roomy, and the view from the balcony was spectacular. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fresh flower lei, mango tea, and a cold refreshing face cloth; and best of alI upgraded to a deluxe oceanfront room at check-in. We'll be back again soon!!!

Beautiful setting with a relaxing atmosphere. Beach Bar is amazing. Food is expensive, but very good. I got engaged right on the beach, so this hotel is really special!
Fantastic Vacation - posted on 08/20/2005
We stayed to celebrate our 25th, and loved it! Our room was above the stage in the Banyan Courtyard, so we fell asleep each night listening to the soft Hawaiian music, with the ocean in the background. Several personal problems cropped up, and the hotel staff always helped us so we got the most out of our trip. Also, we booked through a discount service, and were not treated differently, ever, than "high end" guests! What a beautiful place, staffed by wonderful people. We will definitely stay here again and again!

Great hotel... lots of character. Great service; the staff was always smiling and they found and saved my forgotten passports and tickets. One of the only hotels with direct beach access.

Don't stay anywhere else. This hotel is GORGEOUS, from the moment you show up you are greeted with a lei at check in and the staff is friendly and always around to be of exceptional service, the restaurants serve excellent food, the beachside bar has a wonderful view, the place is OUTSTANDING. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It's worth every dollar you spend.

We're so satisfied with Sheraton Moana Surfrider. We have two children. They loved it too. We've received excellent services and hospitalities from the hotel staffs. Everything (the room, the front lobby...) was very clean - very please! We were treated like royal. We would definitely come back to this hotel again. Strongly recommended to everyone.
Great stay - posted on 06/16/2005
We enjoyed our recent stay at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider hotel; the service was good and the staff very helpful and friendly. However, the children's menu was very limited especially at the poolside cafe, but I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we are looking forward to our next stay there.

One night and move - posted on 03/29/2005
Spent $x/night for the Banyan wing / ocean front room. Room very tired and small. Carpet shabby/torn and dirty; not a proper privacy shade on the bathroom window. Moved to the Halekulani which I do recommend and is worth the $$.
