Customer Reviews for Hilton Hawaiian Village

Not Impressed - posted on 02/01/2006

This property is big. And crowded. It reminded me of Disneyworld. The check-in kiosks worked poorly, with staff hovering to divert people to the long check-in line. The Tapa Tower suite was clean, but bland. Nothing worked... The phone was dead, the internet connection was dead, the TV image quality was unwatchable. The shower (and I'm not kidding here) didn't get to a comfortable temperature until the end of each shower. I checked out early.

The grounds are huge and beautiful. We had an ocean front room in the Rainbow Tower and it was great! I was disappointed that parking was $26 a day for our car! The restaurants are all expensive! 2 people couldnt eat for under $50 a meal! . Besides the restaurants, the rooms were nice and everyone friendly. We wanted to rent an umbrella and chairs for the day and found out it was $51 for the DAY. So, all was a little outrageous! Besides being expensive for everything, it was a great clean room (awesome pillows!), beautiful grounds, and a good location if you want to stay in Waikiki!

My husband and I traveled to Hawaii for the first time and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We were so impressed with the room and the view. We were upgraded at check in, and the rest of the stay was just as good. Restaraunts at hotel very pricey. Eat in Waikiki or outside of town for Cheaper cuisine.

Fabulous hotel! - posted on 05/09/2007

This was my first trip to Hawaii and I didn't know what to expect. When we pulled up to the hotel we were amazed how beautiful it was! Our room was fabulous, it didn't feel as if we were in a hotel, the room service was great and so were the staff! I want to go back and I wouldn't stay anywhere else, great location!!

Best Beach - posted on 04/27/2007

Don't be fooled by other hotels being directly on Waikiki beach. The Hilton is the only RESORT on the sand. Rooms well kept. Good food and drink. Families will have a blast. Ok, Duke's Lagoon is a mess, but soon to be replaced by the largest salfwater pool and slides.

An Amazing Experience - posted on 04/19/2007

As soon as we drove unto the grounds we were awe struck. Gorgeous landscaping, neat shops, a variety of restaurants, stunning entrances to the hotel towers, Friday night fireworks, the ducks, turtles, etc. There's plenty to do without leaving the Hilton Village. We're returning in May 07 and I can't wait!

fun for us, but hotel not fabulous - posted on 04/11/2007

We had fun, but were dissapointed with these things. No waves. We were on the 34th floor of a tower and on the 35th floor (the top) they were doing construction...pieces of the ceiling actually fell into our room! It was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk! They offered to put us into another room but the other room was not as nice (older, less ocean view). The housekeeper didn't restock the shampoo for 4 or 5 days in a row.

Rude staff - posted on 04/07/2007

This hotel had the most rude, belittling wait staff I have ever encountered anywhere, looking us over, interogating us about being guests, inferring we were not, and generally being extremely rude, obnoxious, and belittling in their demeanor when asked for child's menus, or when not ordering higher priced items they felt they should get better tips from. Totally unacceptable treatment.

Waikiki hotels - Hilton - posted on 03/07/2007

The hotel is gorgeous. The territory is huge, with lush tropical gardens, ponds, waterfalls, birds, fish. The lagoon is in construction now, but nearing completion. We walked along the entire beach coast, and this is the most beautifully landscaped hotel territory we've seen.

We stayed in the Ali'i tower and the room was great - comfy bed & pillows. The beach and entire grounds were beautiful. (We never even saw or heard all the renevations going on in the village). After reading many reviews, we were afraid of how expensive it would be, but we found it to be just like any other tourist area we have visited. (ABC store is great and cheap!) We are already planning a trip back.

Place to Relax - posted on 02/22/2007

First and foremost, for those 'critics" stating that the parking, food and etc...is outrageously priced, you obviously haven't comparitively shopped in and around Oahu. The Hawaiian Hilton Villiage is neck to neck with the other resort-type hotels on the island. I have lived here for 4 years and come over to HHV quite often for long weekend get-aways and am always able to relax in comfort. The atmosphere is condusive for reading on the beach, napping in the afternoon and enjoying a decent dinner. All this can be done safely and enjoyably, even if you travel alone. Aloha.

THE HOTEL ITS SELF IS VERY NICE AND CLEAN. THE PEOPLE ARE GREAT. BUT WE WERE CHARGED FOR AN INROOM SAFE, AND FOR PARKING IN THE HOTEL GARAGE. $20 A DAY.. NONE OF WHICH WE WERE TOLD OF BEFORE HAND. WE ALSO HAD A HARD TIME GETTING THE SMOKERS DOWN STAIRS TO QUIT SMOKING IN A NON SMOKING BUILDING. THE SMOKE JUST KEPT COMING INTO OUR ROOM AND BALCONEY.

Stayed in the Rainbow Tower, ocean view, balcony overlooking the superpool. The noise from Friday/Saturdaynight activities can be annoying if you go to bed early, but otherwise enjoyed the fireworks show from our balcony. They need to heat the pools! The only jacuzzi in the entire resort is located at the Kalia Tower. Like the convenience of having an ABC store on-site, as well as Lapert's icecream for our nightly dessert and choice of restaurants (round table, cj's deli, noodle house and japanese - all moderately priced)

Great hotel - bring your wallet - posted on 12/25/2006

We stayed in the Tapa Tower and had a good room with a great ocean view (21st floor). The staff was extrememly helpful, an on-site desk to book a variety of tours & activities. A great slice of beach for guests and 3 different pools...the only flaw is the too-high prices of on-property goodies. My daughter and I bought a couple of smoothies by the pool - $15 - ouch! Bring a credit card or extra cash!

We stayed on the 35th floor with a view of the ocean.Imagine how we felt paying top dollar in hopes of having a nice 15th anniversary in Waikiki,to be shaken from bed on 2 mornings by the pounding of loud metal .Upon complaining, nicely, they dont even appologize.Dont stay here if you want to sleep, and there is no floor safe from their constant construction! They also charge for ANYTHING used in the room. The restaurants are very expensive. There is a restaurant across the street that has good food.

Excellent Hotel/Resort - posted on 11/16/2006

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. The Hilton was beautiful and our room was upgraded which was great. The staff was great and our room was very clean. We went expecting to pay higher prices and they were not that bad. The pool was a little crowded but the beach was wide open. You don't go to Hawaii to sit by the pool anyway. We walked to pretty much everything but if you want to go somewhere there is plenty of transportation and no need to rent a car. We will be back on our anniversary.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of pillows and high quality sheets. Service was excellent. Everything you need is at the hotel complex. Cost of goods and services were on the high side. Waikiki shopping centers are within walking distance as are great restaurants. Convenient location. Will stay here again.

The Place to Stay in Waikiki - posted on 10/05/2006

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a city in and of itself. The resort is situated on he beach and is comprised of several high-rise towers, which are connected by lush landscaping, shops, pools, and wildlife. Our room was clean and beautiful, although the furniture had some evidence of wear. The bed and pillows were plush; the parking was ample; and the location was convenient. I would definately stay here again.

Perfect Vacation - posted on 08/24/2006

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Kalia Tower was beautiful, the room was great, the grounds were beautiful. All of our tours and activities departed from and arrived back at the hotel, no need for a car. The 24 hour coffee shop across the street was the most economical place to eat. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. We included the Aloha VIP tours pickup in our package which was a great surprise. Full orientation on tours and activities. After a free breakfast and orientation, we were set for the week. Highly Recommended!

Maybe include: $16 per day parking fee, coffee, water, into the room cost? How about rubbing the bathroom mirror with anti-fog solution. ALOHA to all the workers that come face to face with guests. Not with standing the above; no water for over 6 hours; huge lines during normal check-in and check-out; the cheap drafty balcony door; Poor exhaust fan in the bathroom; Noise from room and exterior construction; Elevators that rarely stop on our floor; Smelly Penguin Pool; I have to say we did have a nice vacation and the facility was clean and attractively landscaped.

Beautiful place, just a little overrated - posted on 07/27/2006

This is a beautiful place, no doubt, but if I'm paying to stay here, I don't expect to pay $19/night to park my rental car or $3.50 for a small coke, with no refills, etc. If you don't get to the pools as soon as they open, you won't get a place to sit. One thing that bothered me the most was that there were no OAHU brochures. The bins are full of Hilton brochures. I was there to have fun in OAHU, not join the "Hilton Club". It was way too commercialized. That being said, it's a beautiful place ! Beautiful Flamingos and cute penguins, not to mention the landscape and waterfalls.

Beautiful and convenient hotel. - posted on 07/14/2006

The Hilton Hawaiian Village was wonderful. The location was convenient, the staff was friendly, there was tons of shopping (about 100 shops) and places to eat, but best of all, the property itself was stunning. From the multiple waterfalls, an array of fish, penguin, flamingos, swans, and other scenes, I was impressed. I can't wait to visit again!

We wish we would have known about the events that were going on at the hotel when we arrived. We missed some things we would have liked to have seen. We also would have liked to have confirmed our room location prior to arriving, there was a mix up at first, but it was fixed.

Excellent Place to Stay - posted on 07/07/2006

This was my second stay at this resort - I loved it the first time and loved it the second time too. I got upgraded upon arrival during a busy holiday weekend to a suite at no additional cost - it was fabulous. Everyone who worked there in the resort was helpful and friendly. The large size of the beach is a huge plus when staying in Waikiki for sure. The lower end food places were not so great. This is definately a resort I'd love to stay at the next time I'm in Oahu.

horrible - posted on 06/29/2006

Food is overpriced and terrible. Pool is so crowded, you have to actually get in line before it opens and people RUN to find chairs. If you're not there when it opens, you WILL NOT be able to find a chair the rest of the day. $2 for tea bag and $3 for coffee filter in room. $38 to rent beach chair/umbrella!! no sheets on beds-just duvet cover. Had to call the maid to make up room. $15 to park rental car overnight...the list could go on. It is a little less crowded than other places down the beach, but still tons and tons of people. Stay home and save your money.

Stayed for business. Check-in kiosk at the airport is ridiculously convenient. Was upgraded to a gigantic corner room at top of Tapas tower. Balconies are awesome. Downsides are charges for everything including fitness room, in-room coffee, internet access, self-parking - nothing complimentary except pool towels. Upside - Great location, shopping in hotel cannot be beat, plenty of restaurant/bar choices, staff extremely friendly.

Great bedding, down comforters with duvet, plenty of pillows. Nice rooms with good view (Rainbow Tower). Polynesian Review at the pool nightly - Fireworks on Friday are good. Our room had a leak in the plumbing behind the wall that made leaked every time the shower was on. Food prices on site are outrageous but your are on vacation, splurge a little. Last day was spoiled by a rude security guard. Take a trip to Aloha Stadium and buy souveniers there - much cheaper. Hotel is beautiful, right on beach, palm trees everywhere. Oh yeah, stay clear of the penguin habitat - it smells bad.

I inadvertantly left my MP3 player in the room when I checked out. When I got back to South Carolina and discovered it was missing, I called the hotel and they quickly located it and shipped it to me the next day. In 45 years of traveling I have left items in hotel room a couple of other times. It is rare to actually get them back even from "high end" hotels. When you find a completely honest and attentive staff, well, now you have found a jewel of a hotel. My wife and I will be back to the Hilton Hawaiian Village on our next trip back to Hawaii.

I was a bit surprised when I got there. Was expecting a better place for the price. Honolulu is dirty, crowded, and expensive. Hilton service is to be desired. My A/C was broken and never got fixed even though I called 5 times! They nickel and dime you to death as well.

We stayed in the Kalia Tower top floor. Great location on a beautiful beach. Robes and slippers in the room, great ocean view. Delicious breakfast and snacks w/Kalia Club level. Only complaint was the service in the Golden Dragon. Took 25 minutes to get a soda so we had to leave before getting fed, too tired to wait all that time for a meal!

This hotel is great. First trip to Hawaii with family. Had a wonderful time. Stayed in the Ali Tower. The room was awesome ! Can't wait to go back. Staff were very nice and helpful. Hotel grounds were beautiful. Alot of things to do there. Fireworks show was good. Although next time I won't pay the $12.00 for the show, I'll just get an outside seat at the restaurant nearby. Food was a bit pricey at the restaurant, and they could definitely use more seats around the pool.

Ali'i Tower is worth the additional expense. Beautiful, luxry room with marble bathroom, stunning lani views of palm trees and Diamond Head. Staff were all kind and welcoming. Pools are a bit disappointing but the Ali'i Tower has its own exclusive (small) freshwater pool. NOT recommended for the budget-conscious traveler. On-property prices are scandalous, so be willing to hike for more reasonably-priced fare. Not impressed by the captive animal displays (flamingos were especially noxious) but otherwise the epitomy of (slightly crowded, very expensive) paradise. Will stay again.
