The 147-room Courtyard by Marriott Savannah Historic District is the starting point for tours of this Georgia city. The Savannah Welcome Center, Civic Center and Tour Trolleys are located across the street from this five-story hotel. The non-smoking property caters mainly to the leisure traveler but has facilities to suit the business traveler. There are three meeting rooms for social or business functions. Items included with the room rate are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The historic attractions of the old city, including River Street, the City Market and the Savannah History Museum are within walking distance of the hotel

This is an ideal place to stay if you want to explore the historic area of Savannah and be close to the civic center. Those who have stayed here say the accommodation is clean, comfortable and affordable. There are hotels that are more expensive closer to the river, but Courtyard supporters say this is better with a crew of employees that understand the words southern hospitality. All the rooms, and nine suites, have a well-lit work desk with high-speed Internet access, two telephones with voicemail and speakerphone, coffee and tea making facilities, cable television with news and movie channels, pullout sofa bed, iron and ironing board, alarm clock and a hairdryer.

Amenities offered

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and exercise room. The Downtown Athletic Club is one mile from the property. The Courtyard Café only opens for breakfast but there are several restaurants nearby including Garibaldi’s, Moon River Brewing and the Soho South Café. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes, information on area events and attractions and a list of restaurants that will deliver to the hotel. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry, fax and copying services, vending machines, valet dry-cleaning and a gift shop and newsstand.

From Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) 10 miles: Take 1-95 South to Highway 16 East towards Savannah. Take Highway 16 towards Downtown Savannah until the highway ends at Montgomery Street. Make a left at first light (Liberty Street). The hotel is on the left.
