A great experience - posted on 09/03/2005
This hotel was amazing. I went to Savannah for the first time and really enjoyed my experience here. The valet, bellsmen, and front desk were at the utmost professional and sincerely nice. If I needed anything they were right there to lend a hand. The free wine and cheese and complimentary gym membership (1 block away), amoung other amenties made for a nice visit. Thanks!
Worth putting up with the flaws - posted on 02/10/2007
This is a beautiful resoration/modernization. The lobby, bar, and restaurant are beautiful. The rooms are small but attractive, with floors of uneven wooden planks. Unfortunately, the sound seems to travel well, so privacy is somewhat lacking. Try to get a room overlooking the street -- better view and brighter. Wine, cheese, and fruit are provided free of charge in the evening, but the grapes were off and the wine was one of the worst I've ever tasted (both red and white). However, the decor and character more than make up for any problems.
Best hotel stay ever - posted on 11/26/2006
The Marshall House exceeded any expectations we ever had about a hotel. The staff was fantastic, the bar was a lot of fun and they had fun facts about the hotel's history all around the place, framed old photographs and antiques. Staff could not have been nicer.

This Hotel is full of grace and charm. We enjoyed the small amenities that sets this hotel from the rest. Two fresh of bottles of water daily, robes, two newpapers every morning and the turn down service just to name a few. The rooms decor is simple, tasteful and comfortable. Fresh looking and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Our concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable and a dedicated employee that made are stay more enjoyable. We hope to come back in the fall and we would stay here again.
Perfect Hotel for Historic Savannah - posted on 07/03/2006
We traveled to Savannah & stayed at the Marshall House. We booked the Haunted Hotel Package. We enjoyed our stay & I did not want to leave. Nearly all Savannah sites are w/in walking distance. The hotel is easy to find wiin the city. The hotel is beautiful. The hotel was built in 1851 & consist of the original rooms w/ bathrooms added. Some complained of their rooms view--but we were hardly ever in our room. The hotel was nice to come back to relax after a long day of site seeing in the heat. Strongly recommend the Marshall House--we hope to return w/in the year and will be staying again.
STEP BACK INTO HISTORY - posted on 05/27/2006
We stayed for several days over the 4th of July last year and are going to visit again this year. If your looking for a modern hotel look elsewhere. This hotel puts you in the mood of old Savannah. The hardwood floors and room decor takes you back to early America. But don't get me wrong, the place if very comfortable and the staff is very helpful. You can walk a few blocks and be at the river front or walk a couple of blocks in the opposite direction and be in the historical section. Don't need your car.

The Marshall House is a beautiful hotel with an excellent staff. Everything was fresh and clean, and the hotel was interesting in that it did not resemble just another average hotel. Unique. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

What happened to southern charm - posted on 05/09/2006
Initially, we encountered the southern charm (2 employees in a heated discussion (cursing)- hostess shut the door and apologized. The room was worse (2 lightbulbs in the room were blown, bathroom was filthy, only window looked out to the parking garage, and room was small. Service wise - shampoo, conditioner, soap not replenished, towels smelled like dirty water, and glasses and ice bucket were dirty (and never changed during our 3 day stay - even after request). Complimentary breakfast - was tasteless and no variety in food choices.

Nice, but needs improving! - posted on 03/09/2006
My room was not ready at check-in time. 1 1/2 hr. wait. My window looked out onto a huge metal air-conditioning system. There is no additional chair to sit on in the room, only a hard desk chair. I was disappointed that I did not have a bathtub, only a stand in shower. I was under the assumption that they had "claw-foot" tubs in the rooms. They don't have any vending machines for soft drinks, nor do they offer them at their breakfast bar. Lobby seating area was unkept, there were kleenex' from previous patrons and newspaper skewn about. Not worth the high price.

Great location, with a staff willing to help and smiling. Rooms are renovated nicely, although on the small side. Free breakfast and wine and cheese make for a big plus. Would stay here again.
