The 177-room Marriott Columbus is built around a restored cotton mill that began operations in 1861. The original brick was refurbished and used to construct this six-story, full-service convention hotel, which is now a national landmark. The property is five miles from Fort Benning and has rooms and suites equally suited to the discerning business or leisure traveler. There are five meeting rooms for business or social functions. The largest can accommodate 120 guests. The property is within walking distance of Columbus State University, the RiverCenter for Performing Arts, Springer Opera House, Coca Cola Space Science Center and Riverwalk, the center of Columbus' entertainment district.

All the rooms have a well-lit work desk with high-speed Internet access, a refrigerator, microwave oven, cordless two-line telephone with voicemail and speakerphone, coffee and tea making facilities, cable television with news and movie channels, pay-per-view movies, iron and ironing board and an alarm clock. The bathrooms have bathrobes, hairdryer and a separate bathtub and shower.

The hotel’s Houlihan’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and room service is available from 6am until 10pm. There are several restaurants nearby including the Cannon Brewpub, Ruth Ann’s Family Restaurant and Minnie’s Uptown Restaurant. The hotel has an outdoor swimming and an exercise room. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes. From Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) 7 miles: Turn left onto Airport Thruway, turn left on Veterans Parkway, follow to 9th Street, turn right on 9th Street. Follow to Front Avenue and turn left on Front Avenue. The hotel is on the corner of 9th Street and Front Avenue.
