The pet-friendly Holiday Inn Augusta-Gordon Highway is the closest full service hotel to the main gate of Fort Gordon Army Base and comprises 150 reasonably priced rooms equally suited to the business traveler or vacationer. Items included with the room rate at this two-story, non-smoking hotel are a full breakfast buffet, an airport shuttle, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper, in-room coffee and parking. There are five meeting rooms available for business or social functions. The largest can accommodate 150 guests. Focal point of the property is a veranda overlooking the swimming pool and courtyard area. Area landmarks and attractions include several golf course including the world famous Augusta National Golf Club, the Adventure Crossing theme park, Columbia County Amphitheater, the Ezekiel Harris House, Fort Discovery National Science Center, the Laurel and Hardy Museum, Morris Museum of Art, Woodrow Wilson Home and shopping at the Augusta Mall.

Several guests who stayed at this hotel were disappointed with their stay and said it was not up to normal Holiday Inn standards. We give it the YES rating because the rates are low and it is one of the few Holiday Inns that includes a full breakfast with all of its rates. Many appreciated the nicely landscaped grounds and said the employees tried hard to provide helpful and efficient service. The property is in a good location, close to the Augusta Mall, and attempts have been made to upgrade this older hotel. All the rooms have a work desk with high-speed Internet access, television with cable movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, refrigerator, microwave oven, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and two telephones with voicemail and speakerphone.
