My stay was pleasant enough for an inexpensive hotel. But coins on the desk disappeared while I was out for the day and one night at midnight a man knocked on the room door asking for money, ostensibly to help pay a lock smith to get his keys out of a locked truck.

Front desk clerks were friendly and efficient.

Parking spaces are very tight.

The 70-room Best Western Colonial Inn is a modern motor inn located five blocks from the University of Georgia and one mile from downtown Athens. The family-run inn offers up-to-date accommodation at reasonable prices for both the leisure and business traveler. Items that are included in the room rates are a southern continental breakfast, high speed internet access, 30 minutes of local telephone calls and a copy of USA Today. The pet-friendly inn is in the heart of the Athens historic district and is surrounded by restored pre-Civil War Antebellum homes which now serve as offices, retail shops, and sorority and fraternity houses for the University of Georgia.

This motor inn gets good marks for friendly and attentive service, reasonably priced accommodation and a great location. The property gets lots of repeat clients who say they would not stay anywhere else when they come to Athens. Some complainers said the rooms could be larger. But then so would the bill.
