The 109 all-suites Residence Inn by Marriott Tampa Downtown provides one and two-bedroom suites ideally suited for the longer-stay business or leisure traveler. The seven-story, pet friendly hotel is across the street from the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and five miles from Tampa Airport. Items included with the room rate are a hot breakfast buffet, high-speed Internet access, a manager’s reception on Monday through Thursday evenings, and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The inn has one meeting room for business or social functions than can accommodate 20 guests. Nearby landmarks and attractions include the Tampa Convention Center, the Channelside entertainment district, St. Petersburg Times Forum, the Tampa Museum of Art and the Florida Aquarium.

Former guests at this hotel say they received incredible value for their money. Many commented that this was a downtown hotel with good facilities and the prices were those you would expect to pay in an inn away from the city. Plus points were the free cocktails at the manager’s reception, a quality complimentary breakfast and an efficient and friendly crew of employees. There were complaints that there was a $8 parking fee in a lot across from the hotel. But parking in any city is not cheap. Parking in Manhattan probably costs more than a day spent here. Residence Inn by Marriott Tampa Downtown Accommodations

All the suites have a fully equipped kitchen with conventional and microwave oven, stove, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker and a full set of cutlery and crockery. There is a work area with high-speed Internet access, telephone with voicemail, pullout sofa bed, cable television with movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, hairdryer and an iron and ironing board. Some suites have the benefit of a fireplace.

This inn has an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and fitness center. The Courtyard Café serves breakfast and dinner. Room service is available in the evenings from 5.30pm until 10pm and the hotel does offer a grocery delivery service. Two restaurants nearby, Jackson’s and First Watch are open for breakfast and lunch. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and information on area events and attractions. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry, fax and copying machines available for guest use, valet dry-cleaning, vending machines and a picnic area with barbecue grill.

From Tampa Airport (TPA) 5 miles: Take 275 N to Exit 44. Follow signs to Downtown East/West Ashley. At the first light, turn right onto Tampa Street and right again onto Tyler Street, which is the next light. The hotel will be on your left.
