Nice hotel off Xway - posted on 05/02/2007
Hotel staff very friendly. Rooms very clean. Beautiful outdoor walkways; man-made beach (no bay access). The prices in the cafe were high. We did not eat in the cafe because we always arrived when the buffet was being torn down, even though we arrived earlier than the stated closing time. Entree prices started out at $15.00 for eggs and toast. This hotel is right off the expressway. Lots of construction and confusing road signs in Tampa. Only 10 minutes from Clearwater. which is a quieter area than Tampa.

The beds in these rooms are very comfortable and the rooms very clean. Be aware that you need a car to stay here!! Can't walk anywhere and food and drink are very pricey but the dinner was very good.
Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay - posted on 03/03/2007
I booked this trip 2 weeks before leaving-with a room which had a partial bay view- upon arrival - I was told the hotel was completely booked the night before- that we would have to stay in a bungalo 10 minutes from the hotel-my friend and I got the impression this was because of our discount- we received through the travel site-after talking to 2 personal-(who were very rude) waiting for 4 hours - we finally got a friendly one who did get us a room inside the hotel- customer service was terrible!!!!

Could not get a meal on Saturday night-one restaurant was sold out, the other one not open-price too high for quality of food

Wonderful hotel. Great experience from start to finish!! Beautiful rooms, pools, service. Our children loved our weekend away. Will return again, and again.

This Hotel has it all - wonderful rooms, world class restaurants, top notch service. The staff is respectful, attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The pools were clean and refreshing; the lobby was comfortable; the lobby bar was a nice relaxing place to get a great drink, a wonderful meal, or a hot cup of tea. Nothing could be improved on unless they were to give it to you for free!
A little pricey - posted on 06/06/2006
We're quite happy with the hotel, but you must have a vehicle to get to beaches, and attractions. Also we went in the hot tub inside the health club, and the chlorine nearly blinded me. May have just been shocked or it may always be like that not sure. We also thought the pricing of services, such as drinks exc, was a little over the top. $18 for a whisky with gingerale, and a margorita. Nice place, but not that nice.

I didn't expect much because we got such a great rate. Wrong. The drive way into the hotel was pure luxury with granite pavers, fountain and bell persons opening your door. The lobby was very inviting with an open restaurant and bar. We received complimentary vouchers for their breakfast. Again I didn't expect much because it was free. Wrong again. A spectacular buffet complete with fresh fruit, Starbucks coffee, omelet chef, the works, etc Would def. stay there again on our next trip to Tampa.
Overall was good, but the huge spider in the room - posted on 05/01/2006
I enjoyed the stay at this hotel. It would receive 4 stars if I did not have the huge spider in the room and the pools. The pool by the main hotel was small and in a terrible location. It doesn?t get any sun in the morning. The service at the other pool was a problem. One day the pool staff told us that the pool waiter left early so we would need to go into the restaurant ourselves to get drinks. it was not just a poolside bar, it was a 4 star restaurant.

The hotel is great! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only problem is you can't walk anywhere, you must rent a car if you want to go anywhere.
What a Pleasure - posted on 04/05/2006
This is a lovely hotel. I was graciously given an early check in. Room was beautiful and the bed so comfortable. Staff was friendly. Room service delicious. This is not a budget hotel and restaurants are priced for quality. For the price I paid this was an amazing luxury bargain. Close to the airport and conveniently located. The only downside is you MUST have a car to get around.

If you have money to burn, you'll like this place. We arrived at 5PM and our room wasn't ready yet. We stayed in the spanish cottages near the water, not the main building. The room was average size, but only a couple of drawers to put your clothes in. The closet sized bathroom wasn't cleaned during our 3 night stay. The "patio" they advertize is a 4x6 foot concrete slab that was pulling away from the building and sloped at a 30 degree angle. The (average) food was outragiously priced ($38 for breakfast for 2 people).
Not recommendable. - posted on 01/20/2006
Thanks for asking my opinion on the Grand Hyatt. I was truly disappointed. I would expect a 500$can room to be of much higher standards. I have stayed in big city hotels all over the world for less than half the price for a much nicer room. I had reserved a 'suite' to treat myself and my wife for the new year to find myself in a room with dirty glasses, already used water bottles and staff that made me feel unwelcome. Only the room service lady didn't make us feel unwanted. Every phone call to reception to mention missing bathrobes and towels or for service was answered rudely as if we disturbed. I'm sorry to say that what started out as being a nice turn of the year treat, turned out to be very disapointing.
Great Room, but you need transportation - posted on 01/01/2006
Staff was helpful and the rooms are nice. The adjacent nature walk is also a nice touch. Shuttle runs to the airport and a nearby mall, but if you want to see the sights in Tampa you will pay alot for either a cab or a rental car. Food at the hotel is expensive.
Best two nights - posted on 12/23/2005
Nicky, I have been working solid without a day off in weeks sleeping in awful beds in awful hotels. These were the first two nights we actually slept, and slept well. The hotel was awesome!

Great Place to Stay - posted on 08/20/2005
I was vacationing with a friend and we really enjoyed the hotel. There are three very nice resturants on site and the hotel was five minutes away from the International Mall. We shopped until we dropped. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful and made our stay in Florida very enjoyable. We enjoyed the fitness center, both pools, hot tubs and the bar. I would stay again.

The hotel room and the grounds were very was nice. The airport shuttle service needs much improvement. After about 2 hours and 5 telephone calls the shuttle arrived and transported us to the hotel. Poor customer serviced.

We were very pleased with the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. The hotel personnel was very friendly and provided excellent service. Our room was immaculate and had a beautiful bay view. Although the pool area was very clean and nicely landscaped, we felt that it was too small in relation to the size of the hotel (especially since it is situated on a large piece of land ? 35 acres). Nevertheless, we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone staying in Tampa Bay.
Overall Pleasant Experience - posted on 05/30/2005
Great hotel close to airport, but about 30 min to everything else including beaches. Rooms beautifully done. Service really good. Drawbacks: small pool which was too warm and mediocre buffet. However, there is a set of bungalos about a 5 min walk from the hotel that form part of the Hyatt. The pool there, while still small, was nice and cool with beautiful surroundings set right on the water (there is no beach here, although they have imported some sand for laying out). The food was great there too, and was more adult oriented. Great place overall.
