The 64 all-suites Residence Inn by Marriott Pensacola University Mall is designed for extended-stays by the business or leisure traveler. The non-smoking, pet friendly property has 16 two-story penthouse suites. Items included with the room rate are a manager’s reception on Monday through Thursday evenings, a hot breakfast buffer, high-speed Internet access, parking, local telephone calls and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel is located off Interstate 10 and 110 by the University Mall. There are two meeting rooms for social or business functions. The larger can accommodate 25 guests. Area attractions and landmarks include Pensacola Beach, the Pensacola Naval Air Station and its museum, University of West Florida, Sacred Heart Hospital and the Pensacola Christian College. The property is four miles from the golf course at Marcus Point.

Several guests who have stayed here say it worth spending a little more to get one of the two-story penthouses. Those who did that say they made full use of the kitchen and enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace on a chilly evening. There were good comments about the staff being efficient and friendly. All the suites have a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator with icemaker, conventional and microwave oven, dishwasher, stove, toaster and silverware and dishes. Other features are a work desk with high-speed Internet access, telephone with voicemail and speakerphone, cable television with news and movie channels, pullout sofa bed, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board and a hairdryer.

This inn has an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, fitness center and a sports court. The complimentary breakfast is the only meal served here but there are several restaurants nearby including a Steak N Ale, Bennigans and a Piccadilly Cafeteria. The hotel offers a grocery shopping service. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes, information on area events and attractions. Other amenities are a coin-operated laundry, valet dry-cleaning, copy and fax services, vending machines and a picnic area with barbecue grill.

From Pensacola Airport (PNS) 5 miles: Exit main gate of airport on to Airport Boulevard. Follow Airport Boulevard until light at North Davis Highway. Take a right on to North Davis Highway. Go through two stop lights, the third will be Creighton Road. Take a left on to Creighton Road (Sears will be on your right). The second side street on your right will be Plantation Road. Take a right. You will come to a stop sign, take a right (still Plantation Road). When you come to the second side street on your left (American Water building), take a left (still Plantation Road). This street dead ends. The Residence Inn is across the street to the right.
