Customer Reviews for Best Western Movieland Orlando

It was ok - posted on 05/04/2006

When I got to the hotel, they gave me the wrong room even though I had my reservation receipt in hand. The rooms were clean, but had a strong smell of cleaning products. The attendant at the front desk did not speak to me other than the necessary to check me in and everytime I came to front desk he was on the phone.

Great Service - posted on 04/16/2007

Hotel is a great deal for the price. Rooms were clean and nice, (our rm. did not have a computer). We did get the best customer service I have ever had anywhere! Staff were super and great! The outdoor pool was wonderful and heated. Really heated not just claimed to be but, the water was nice and warm even on cold nights! Customer service was excellent!

This was a great hotel near everything but it needs a hot tub outside and a indoor pool the nights got cold we couldn't swim. The arcade was out of order most of our stay.

the maid service - they didn't clean the bathroom - posted on 03/10/2007

It was a really great hotel for the price we got. I was very irritated to find out about extra fees at check-in... and the maids were not very thorough... but otherwise it was a really good deal for the price. Especially in Orlando, because we only go to the room to sleep.

Never Again! - posted on 02/28/2007

Our group came for the Capital One Bowl, so we only needed a room for two nights. But I don't think I would stay there again. The location and the Black Angus Restaurant were great. We also experienced the same problems many other people have complained about. Bad air conditioning, poor cable TV reception, inoperative elevators and worst of all a dirty, smelly room. The smell in the room besides being moldy and musty, was an extremely strong smell of solvents. I use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, and I smelled that room for a month in the machine.

My Visit - posted on 02/15/2007

The hotel charged me an additional fee called Resort Service Charge & Tax of $13.00 over and above what I paid you for my stay. Are they permitted to tack on addtional charges they didn't even tell me about until I was checking out? The bed was a bit lumpy and the flush valve on the toilet stuck and leaked. The hotel was in a convenient location and the room was very clean.

Services - posted on 01/02/2007

On the day we arrived, I asked a room away from main street, the gentalman at the fron desk gave us a room close to elevator. This room neither away enough from street, nor is its cable TV working. We asked for help. The housekeeping technician came over, checked and said that TV would not work because the room was close to elevator. This means the hotel knew first hand that the TV would not work for rooms close to elevator, they shouldn't assign us this room while there still other rooms available.

Great value and the first one with a heated pool that was heated to more than 70. My best guess is that the pool was low 80's and very comfortable. Wonderful Staff. Room was clean and much nicer than some other budget hotels in the area i have stayed in. It's not the Ritz, but looks the same at night when you are sleeping! Excellent resturant next door, but make sure you take the coupon flyer or they "forget" the discount. Paid a different price for same breakfast each morning.

Nothing is what it advertised - posted on 06/26/2006

Front desk staffs are most rude, in addition they sent a maid to call me out of my room to demand the $2.50 whatever fee after I already prepaid for the motel room, but the cleaning crews are efficient and pleasant. There's no hot tub, no kids activities, no moderm/data port in rooms or meeting rooms as advertised. Pool closes at 8:30 and they charges $3 per night to turn the phone on so that mean local calls are not really free either. End up checking out 4 days earlier than planned, will not stay there ever again.

Great Location. Hotel ok. - posted on 06/14/2006

The location of the hotel was great; right in the middle of everything. But the walls were paper thin and the hotel was not that clean. They have closed the Tiki Bar that is advertised on all the websites, my feet were black from the carpet in the room, and there was construction going on the whole time I was there.

not so great - posted on 06/07/2006

Miserable in the room because air conditioning was terrible and the rest of the building felt like it had absolutely no A/C at all. Clerk was rude at check-in, told I had a resort fee balance at checkout and found a silverfish in the bed.

Musty smelling rooms - posted on 05/23/2006

The hotel appears nice from the outside, however once entering the room it all changes. First, my room smelled it had a musty moldy odor to it. Second, while walking through the hallways I noticed loose wires along the ceiling. The hotel was not the nicest 3 star hotel I've stayed at. There is a $2.50 fee/ day. However, their cleaning staff was great and there was no bugs that is the only reason I'm giving it a 2.

I certainly wouldn't rate the motel as high as it's listed. It could be cleaner, the sound inside the rooms can be loud as can be the air conditioner units. The service didn't go out of there way to help. The upside it was worth the price.

You get what you paid for/no bugs! - posted on 05/09/2006

The 1st room smelled of mildew and the bed spreads were quite worn, the 2nd room the spreads were less worn and the smell was a little fresher. Th satff was friendly and quick to meet our needs, the bathroom light went out late at night, we called the front desk and they were there less than 5min and reset it. The location is near to everthing, we did not use the pool as we were only there for 2days and we were off to Miami, and Land O lakes Fl. although it did look refreshing. I think best of all it was clean and no bugs!

As expected, but hidden costs - posted on 04/04/2006

The rooms were clean and not fancy but nice. Wasn't thrilled that they hit us with $2.50 per day for things like in room safe, whether you used them or not. I don't like being given hidden charges when I get there and can't do anything about it.

Will return - posted on 04/02/2006

Hotel was fine, rooms were clean and well stocked. Pool was excellent. Disappointed that bar was never open thru our stay! Only had 2 complaints: mildew/musty odor in the hallways in some areas, and the bar never being open. Hotel very convenient to the attractions and had available shuttle services. For the cost it is a reasonable hotel and convenient.

Worth visiting!!! - posted on 03/09/2006

After seeing a few bad comments and few good ones I booked 10 days at Movieland... Very good experience clean spacious room.. well cleaned / maintained good food in the restaurant. I have 2 kids both had a great time.. we walked to universal 15 mins away turn left out of hotel then left at lights and keep walking, we used the I-Ride and Lynx for Disney we did not use the hotel shuttle as it seemed expensive. I would use the hotel again. We ate at Sizzlers and Ponderosa which was a little cheaper good food at both... Enjoy your time

Exceeded expectations - posted on 03/04/2006

We chose this hotel because of it's location and price. Based on some of the marginal comments from previous guests, we had modest expectations. However, we were pleasantly suprised by the both the hotel's appeal and the friendliness of the staff. While the hotel is not the most glamorous, the staff are not the best dressed, and the rooms are not the largest we've ever experienced, you still get tremendous value for your dollar. Excellent location, friendly staff, easy check in/out, clean rooms, and a great price! My wife and I highly recommend this hotel.

OK...I guess - posted on 12/23/2005

the hotel was ok but the rooms were very dark and could have been a little nicer, but they were clean. Overall it was a good deal for the money, but I was very irritated when I arrived around 1 am and the desk clerk made me wait outside about 30 minutes for a security guard to come up front and open the lobby door, while the clerk stood there the whole while just watching me. (That night it was about 40F outside)

Clean and Cheap - posted on 11/25/2005

This hotel was exaclty what I needed for a quick overnight stay. It was definitely a budget hotel, but very clean, with helpful staff. The rooms looked newly renovated, and larger than expected, towels were thick, sheets were crisp, and rugs were vacuumed. Bathroom even smelled clean. Although I did not use either one, the pool looked very nice and the restaurant smelled good. I would definitely recommend it and would bring my children there.
