The pet-friendly Days Inn at Maingate of Universal Orlando comprises 200 rooms equally suited to families or couples on vacation. Items included with the room rate are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a shuttle to some of the area’s major theme parks and attractions, a copy of USA Today and parking. There is one meeting room available for business or social functions. Area landmarks and attractions include Walt Disney World, Sea World, Wet ‘n Wild water park, the Islands of Adventure amusement park, Universal Studios and the City Walk entertainment complex, the Orlando Convention Center, the Florida Citrus Bowl, Amway Arena, home of the Orlando Magic basketball team and shopping along International Drive and at the Prime Outlet Shopping Mall and Fashion Square Mall.

This Days Inn gets mixed reviews. We give it the YES rating because of its inexpensive rates and its great location within walking distance of Universal Studios. Many were impressed with the on-site Tabla restaurant and said it was worth visiting even if you are no staying at the hotel. The extensive breakfast at $4.95 is a bargain. Downside is there are parts of the hotel that need upgrading and several clients complained about poor housekeeping. Despite this many guests said they would stay here again. Days Inn at Maingate of Universal Orlando Accommodations

The rooms come with a choice or two double beds or one king size bed. Amenities include a work area with Internet access, coffee maker, 25-inch television with cable news and movie channels, mini-refrigerator, telephone with data port, in-room safe, AM/FM clock radio and a hairdryer. Microwave ovens and rollaway beds are available for a fee.

This hotel has an outdoor heated swimming pool. The on-site Tabla Bar and Grill is open for breakfast, lunch dinner and there is a poolside bar. Restaurants nearby include a Hard Rock Café, Golden Corral, Cracker Barrel and a TGI Fridays. The 24-hour front desk has information and tickets for the Orlando attractions and events. Other amenities include a fax and copying services, a gift shop open from 8.30am until 10pm, games room and ice and vending machines.
