Night Before Cruise - posted on 10/03/2005

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami Downtown the night before our cruise. The room was nice, however the lighting outside of the building was very poor. The neighborhood was a little rough, but there was a great shopping center across the street with casual restaurants that looked over the bay. Plenty to do if you have time to spend before your cruise takes off. We would stay here again.

We were staying in this hotel for one night to catch a cruise. An over priced hotel, with mold in the bathroom sink, smelled smokey, and the room was cold, they did not have heat, after a rain storm where the streets were flood, the room smelled of mildew. I am a travel agent and would not recommend this hotel to any of my travelers. Desk Rep did not smile and when you walk to the desk they hurried to get on the phone. We had to have 4 extra blankets sent to the room, just to sit up and play cards. After cutting off the air, it finally got warm around 8:00am in time enough to check out.

This was one of the priciest hotels I have stayed in and one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. As soon as we walked in, we gagged because the whole place smelled like a moldy basement. I think the humidity was just getting into everything and they do not do a good job of maintaining the place. We paid $*/night for this place with tax and it is absolutely the most overpriced place I have ever seen. My comforter had stains and I felt disgusting just getting into my bed becase the sheets were rough and felt like they hadn't been washed.

Great Location - posted on 04/18/2007

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. The room was clean and we had an amazing view of the port - we saw our cruise ship when we woke up in the morning. The hotel was right across the street from the Bayside Mall, where we spent a lot of time.

The lobby was nice. The hallways and rooms need a good dose of some fresh air. The elevators were terrible. We had to hail our own taxi from the sidewalk. Not recommended even at the price.

It is just the perfect place to stay. Location is right across the street from Bayside and a block away from the American Airline Arena. Staff is wonderful and accomedations were above and beyond. I will stay there from now on and no where else. They won my business. I highly recommend getting he suite is soooo worth the money for the upgrade..

Pre or Post Cruise Stay - posted on 11/22/2006

Hotel is clean, staff friendly and accomodating. Location is great -- right across from the port. You can watch the ships come in. We stayed here prior to our cruise. Would definitely recommend it.

Good Overnite Stay - posted on 08/13/2006

Priced right. We stayed overnight before our cruise. Room was clean, pool was nice. Bayside Shopping Mall is directly across the street and we shopped and ate there. Taxi cabs were available to take to the Port of Miami. I would say that it is a nice place to stay before or after a cruise.

They gave us a great view of the Port of Miami and it wasn't far from our cruise ship.

Hotel Hostel - posted on 07/02/2006

This was the worst stay ever. There were 14 of us with 5 rooms. Rooms were not ready until 4p, dirty, and smelled. The staff lack any social skills & were downright rude. Food was awful. Elevator broke trapping 1 of us inside, when opened they were sent to stairs and trapped in stairway with all doors locked. STAY AWAY.....FAR AWAY.

Great location! - posted on 05/07/2006

The hotel was in a great location near the cruise terminals and the Marketplace. Staff was very helpful and the rooms were very comfortable. The beds were a little too hard for us and the breakfast was a bit on the salty side, but overall a great place to stay.

The only thing this place has is location. Stayed both pre and post cruise nights. Staff seemed overworked. Overall, the hotel needs maintenance performed. The flashing "do not use elevator" light makes you wonder....Recent price increases will prevent us from staying here again.

Can't Follow Directions - posted on 03/29/2006

In spite of reserving a late check out and putting a do not disturb sign on the door, the maid tried to barge into our room three times and the front desk called to ask why we hadn't checked out on time. Very annoying and nobody ever apologized when we complained. The blamed it all on the maid!

Not worth your $ - posted on 03/22/2006

VERY Noisy! Planes flying overhead, music playing at all hours outside, clock tower chimed EVERY 15 minutes, am-pm.! Air conditioning ducts made a screw rotation noise as the vents opened & closed every five minutes. Maintenance said they'd discontect the auto-vents, but never returned to do it. I slept with no air. Even if air worked, it blew on your face in bed. go somewhere else. Holiday Inn should be embarassed.

Pleasantly surprised by spaciousness of rooms. Close to Port of Miami makes it ideal for those taking or coming off of cruise ships. Knowledgeable staff re: directions to sights. Special thanks to daytime Consierge (bellman) for all his help! Clean hotel; friendly staff make every effort to accommodate requests. Aventura Mall and Dadeland Mall great shopping. SKIP Dolphin Mall - waste of time! Bayside Market quaint and across the street. I would stay at this hotel again anytime!

Worst Hotel Stay from a Frequent Traveler - posted on 01/10/2006

Not only did our towels have brown stains all over them, but we paid for parking and never got a spot and we were stuck by the elevator which "dings" on every floor...would have slept better in our rental car. TERRIBLE customer service!!! VERY UNHAPPY!

Pre/Post Cruise Hotel - posted on 12/28/2005

Stayed at Holiday Inn 1 day pre and 2 days post cruise. Great location - right across from Bayside, minutes from Port (taxi $15/4 people); South Beach($15/4 people); $5 R/T shuttle ride to Dolphin Mall - other mall locations too far unless you have a car. Hotel was freezing on post stay. Never did get warm and it was pretty nice outside.

the best part of my miami experience was the location of the hotel. the hotel was located near a very nice mall, which had attractions, tours, resturants and many lovely stores.

Other options better for price - posted on 12/05/2005

The location of the Holiday Inn is perfect. Walking distance to downtown shopping, business districts, and sports arenas. Few amenities and unfriendly staff. Additional parking fee per day. Nearby hotels, Courtyard, provide wi-fi and free parking for a similar price.

Perfect Location - posted on 11/28/2005

This hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Miami. It is across the street from Bayside Market Place and is within a few miles of Calle Ocho, South Beach, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne and Coconut Grove. The staff was friendly and the parking was excellent ($10 per day)

Always a Good Choice - posted on 11/14/2005

We have stayed at this hotel at least four or five times. It is a great deal and the rooms are nice and clean. It is in a great location and the only bad thing as mentioned before is when they have live music it is very loud and starts late and night and lasts until the wee hours of the morning. I would recommend this hotel to every time. In fact, I am making my sixth reservtion for this December.

Great One Night Stay - posted on 11/12/2005

The Bayside outdoor shops, eateries and water activities across the street from the hotel made up for the disappointingly tiny room. The live outdoor entertainment the evening of my stay was fantastic, and the harbour cruise that included Miami beach and Celebrity homes the morning of my cruise departure was wonderful. The hotel was conveniently 10 minutes from the cruise ships. Great location.

Pre-Cruise stay - posted on 10/22/2005

This hotel is great for people leaving on a Cruise from the port of Miami. The Bayside Marketplace is within walking distance and is a nice safe place to shop and eat. The music was great until we were ready to go to bed and it went on past 10:00 pm. The staff failed to tell us there is a $10.00 fee to park per day even after I called 3 times to verify all our info!! Would stay here again before next cruise because it was convenient and clean.

Would Not Lose Sleep Over Low Hotel $ Rates! - posted on 09/21/2005

This hotel is great for pre & post cruise activities. The Port of Miami was only 5 minutes away ($10 Flat Rate Taxi ride). The rooms were very clean and spotless. The beds were too soft for me. A bit firmer would be great! Would definitely stay in this hotel again in the future! The hotel rates were very reasonable.

Had a blast!! - posted on 09/16/2005

We stayed at this Holiday Inn before a cruise. It has a great location, across from a very nice mall. The rooms were nice, not very big, but you can tell the hotel has recently been renovated. The parking, however, is very limited. We had to pay $10.00 to park at a parking lot that was not associated with the hotel, as their parking lot is very small and I believe only holds 40 vehicles for the entire hotel. We enjoyed our stay and are planning to stay again and take our kids in October for a football game.

Nice stay - posted on 08/18/2005

We had a great time at this hotel; the room was good enough for my family. It was clean, silent and the best, wireless internet for free. They charge US$10 a night parking, which is ok, for the area.

Great place pre-cruise stay - posted on 08/05/2005

This hotel is very good. We stayed for one night prior to the cruise. Bayside is wonderful and with the great shops and restaurants you didn't have to go anywhere or leave the area. Cuban food was delightful and the service superb... The rooms we stayed in where big and clean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

We stayed here for one night before our cruise. The location was perfect; there is a large shopping area across the street which features shops, restaurants, and a marina. I was worried about the noise, but it was completely quiet. We had a great time. Very clean!

Great Cruise Hotel - posted on 06/02/2005

Great pre-cruise hotel. Bayside mall right across the street. Rooms are small, but fine for a night. Get breakfast buffet early or walk to McDodalds down the street. I will stay here before every Miami cruise.

Convenient - posted on 05/22/2005

Very nice hotel, convenient for cruise ports, and the Bayside Marketplace is right across the street. Unfortunately, the music from there is loud and lasts until 10:00 P/M, and starts again at 6:00 A/M.
