AK Lodge was Great!! - posted on 09/05/2006

Despite the fact that we got a great rate on a "standard" room, we still had a partial view of the savannah. Saw plenty of animals. Nice pool area - great for families.

My aching back!!! - posted on 05/21/2006

This hotel was absolutely fabulous in every way EXCEPT the beds!!! My husband travels regularly and he says it is the worst hotel bed he has ever slept on. We may as well have been sleeping on a hardwood floor. And the lack of sleep made for a couple of tough days at the parks. Wish I would have had a little more energy!!! We did complain, but there were no other rooms available. They came in and put a new mattress pad on our bed, but it didn't make a bit of difference. I would like to hope that it was a freak experience and all the other beds in the hotel are wonderful. :>)

Great Hotel - posted on 04/29/2006

Great Hotel. Kids loved the bunkbed feature. Refrig in room as requested at no extra charge. Bathroom a bit small.. long walk to room after parks all day. No one available to help us with luggage. Food a bit expensive... Generally we had a great stay though.

Wonderful! - posted on 04/02/2006

This hotel was perfect for our stay -- our toddler loved the room and the animals more than the Disney parks. We enjoyed spending evenings on the balcony watching the animals graze and sleep. By far the best Disney hotel

Outstanding - posted on 03/19/2006

This is a magnificent Hotel to stay at. It's beautiful in the Savannah rooms... Wake up and step out onto the balcony and soak up the rising Sun as the Animals are right below you. Really, really nice. The restaurants have 5 star chefs ad the food is beyond description. I just cant say enough about this Hotel...

New Years at the Magic Kingdom - posted on 01/17/2006

During peak travel, the hotel will becompletely booked. Make sure to book restaurant reservations EARLY, like when you actually book your room. The Mara restaurant is a la carte and that was never too crowded. Although completely booked, there is enough room for everyone for the most part. Buses to the parks were full but efficient. The parks were very crowded, especially the Magic Kingdom. Try going to the Extra Magic Hours that are for hotel guests only to avoid this during peak travel times.

Welcome to paradise - posted on 01/17/2006

We have had the pleasure of staying at the AK 6 times. It is the best Disney hotel we have stayed in. The quiet serenity of the lobby welcomes you home from a long day of adventure at Disney. The music gives way to the wonderful views of the magnificent pool and the wonder of the animals. This resort has something for everyone in the party from child to senior. We make this our destination when we are in Orlando. The magic continues from the minute you wake up to the last thing at night. The Animal Kingdom Lodge makes the vacation perfect.

Honeymoon Stay - posted on 01/13/2006

We went here for our honeymoon and it was my first time to Disney World. The hotel was very unique and very clean. Lobby was awesome and the breakfast buffet was GREAT!!! Make sure to do that one! The only thing is I wish they would of gave us a king bed instead of two queens.

WE STAYED THERE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. IT WAS THE BEST. YOU COULD WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND LOOK OUT YOUR WINDOW AND SEE ANIMALS. FOR KIDS THERES A NICE POOL WITH A SLIDE. ALSO THERES A PLAYGROUND FOR THE KIDS. ITS A GOOD SIZE. OR YOUCAN TAKE A NATURE WALK AND SEE ANIMALS. THE LOBBY IS BEAUTIFUL! THE ROOMS ARE A GOOD SIZE AND BEAUTIFUL.

OUR FAVORITE PLACE - posted on 12/22/2005

STAYED HERE WITH 3 KIDS AND WE ADORED IT. ROOMS ARE GREAT - MUCH BETTER THAN MODERATE RESORTS. WE WERE ALLOWED INTO OUR ROOM BEFORE THE 4PM CHECK IN WITHOUT EVEN REQUESTING IT. ANIMALS ARE GREAT ATTRACTION. SOUVENIR CUP WORTH BUYING. ROOM SERVICE FOOD PERFECT AND AFFORDABLE (CONSIDERING WHERE YOU ARE). THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS THAT IT IS FAR FROM ALL THE PARKS EXCEPT AK. LONG BUS RIDES TO MK, EPCOT, & MGM

Great Vacation - posted on 12/20/2005

This was the most amazing resort we have ever stayed at. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, and the resort was beautiful. The lobby is unmatched by any others I have ever seen. Disney outdid themselves on this one. We can't wait to come back!

Destination Disney - posted on 12/12/2005

I loved everything about the hotel. I was dissappointed only with the midnight closings of all restaurants. I paid too much money not to be able to get a late night, early morning snack at 2:00 a.m.

PLANNING NEXT YEAR ALREADY! - posted on 09/04/2005

WE LOVED IT, IT WAS A NICE WALK TO THE LOBBY BUT THE VIEW WAS WORTH IT. PLANNING ON GOING BACK NEXT YEAR AND THE KIDS ONLY WANT TO STAY HERE. BOMA HAS A GREAT BREAKFAST TO START YOUR DAY. INVEST IN THE REFILLABLE CUP, IF YOU FLY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AIRPORT CHECK IN - IN THE LOBBY. SAVES TIME! I FELT LIKE A KID AGAIN!

Amazing first time experience!!! - posted on 09/02/2005

Beautiful lobby, amazing smells and sights, first view out of balcony was 4 giraffes!! Great food at Boma, service is fantastic, free upgraded room, room service friendly and delicious. Pool closes during thunder and lightning, but enough inside the resort to entertain. Recommend to ANYONE!!!

WOW!! - posted on 08/18/2005

We took our 1st trip to WDW for our 25th Anniversary. We were upgraded to a Savannah View room and I couldn't have been happier! While my husband napped,I sat on the balcony, wrote postcards and watched giraffes walk right in front of me. GLORIOUS experience!

Nice place - posted on 08/12/2005

Get a room close to lobby if you can everything is around it and can have long walks if you dont. Pool grate for kids. Room service is grate. For my son and I could not have been much better, except for the trees blocking the view of about 75%of the park from our room and we were on the 4th floor...

In Africa - posted on 07/28/2005

All rooms have verandas overlooking an area of the African Serengeti Plain. We awoke to Garafs walking by our room. Even though we were on the fourth floor, it was like they were looking right at us. 90% of the staff are from Africa. There all said hello and would stop to talk about your vacation and give first-hand information about their homeland. Great experience and a real blast. Wish we had stayed longer.

African Fun! - posted on 07/22/2005

Great atmosphere! Free upgrade to Savannah Room, great view! Multiple activities for all ages. Request room closer to lobby, long walk if not. Need another pool, very crowded, slide closes at 8pm. Get to shuttles early, fill up fast. Food Court on lowest level had terrible food. All in all, have extra time just to spend in this hotel, lots of activities!

Impressions of Animal Kingdom Lodge - posted on 04/20/2005

Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms left much to be desired: Small and uncomfortable. Mattresses moderately comfortable at best. Lobby fabulous. Pool area great. Disappointing food quality. My grandchildren enjoyed viewing animals from our Savannah room, but hit their heads several times on amoire holding TV (impossible to close doors that protruded into walking space). Bathroom cramped . .
