The cattle and sugar industries first developed the city of Kissimmee and although the citrus business has helped the economy over recent years, the opening of Walt Disney World is one of the biggest reasons visitors flock here. Its so close to Disney that it becomes a top choice for finding hotels. Dont let that take you away from the many exciting opportunities Kissimmee has to offer you. You might be surprised at what youll find just around the corner and no, its not a big mouse hes just a few miles away.
Kissimmee (which is kinda fun to type) is home to the famous Old Town. Youll feel like youve step back in time when the roaring 20s were alive and well. Theres so much to see and do here, youll come back over and over again, just to experience it all. Car Cruising is a favorite pastime here. Thursdays is Motorcycle night and Friday night is packed with cars from 1973-1987. But if you want the classics, stick around on Saturday nights when over 300 pre 1972 cars line the streets. But car watching isnt all you do here. There are 75 shops filled with unique gift ideas, fantastic restaurants ranging from Chinese to Pizza and amusement rides that everyone will love. The classic here is the Windstorm Roller Coaster caution though, it might not be a great idea to eat before you get on this one. There are 18 rides in total to let you scream at the top of your lungs although you may get a few funny looks if you let loose on the Ferris Wheel. Enjoy your evenings at the Blue Max, which features karaoke every night or at the Sun on the Beach where youll hear the latest tunes being pumped out.
If you need to cool off from that hot Florida sun, make your way to Water Mania. There are over 36 acres of slides and pools to get you soaked. With names like the Abyss, Anaconda, Banana Peel and Wipe Out, youll love the crazy rides here. So put together a picnic, grab a towel and some suntan lotion and be prepared to get drenched. And for the golf lovers traveling with you, make your way to the beautiful Kissimmee Golf Club to get in a perfect round of golf.
There are great restaurants located throughout Kissimmee for you to enjoy but for a unique dining experience, make reservations for the Medieval dinner. Located in a castle set in the 11th century, youll be treated to a fantastic show where knights fight enemies on beautiful Andalusian Stallions. These horses provide some of the best entertainment, although the fight scenes almost make you forget that youre also there to eat. And the food, by the way, is fantastic as well.
So whether youre coming to Kissimmee for a great hotel deal and spend your days at Disney, or decide to enjoy the sites and sounds of this great city, youll enjoy your stay here. With so much to see and do, make sure you give yourself enough time to experience it all.
