Customer Reviews for Southernmost Hotel Key West

Great location - Great hotel - posted on 06/28/2005

The room was extremely comfortable and nice looking. The pool and jacuzzi area were great. The location was also a huge plus, being on the quiet end of Duval St. Sure there's a little bit of a walk to the REALLY busy part of the street, but about a block away from the hotel is where a lot of really nice shops, galleries, and restaurants start. So the walk to all the really busy parts went by really quickly. The only negative I could think of for the hotel was the shower, the lack of water pressure was actualy comical (I hear this is a problem all around the island though). Great hotel, I'll definitly stay there again next time I'm in Key West.

Not quite satisfied - posted on 04/02/2007

I really wanted something special for my daughter who was on vacation from Denver. The poolside/w patio is mostly the reason that I booked this room. Upon arrival we checked in with ease and were given a room in the back with no patio and a view of the parking lot. When I called to try to correct the room I got an uncaring explanation that those rooms were more expensive and patios rooms only had one bed in them. Needless to say I was upset but had no choice. I was happy with the hotel and their properties but I was very disappointed that I didn't receive the room that I purchased.

Southernmost on Duval Street - posted on 03/22/2007

I enjoyed my stay! And the e-mail message that you sent before I left regarding things to do in Key West was a very nice touch. It helped me to discover the Crystal Room at Fa De La, which I loved! Thank you.

An enjoyable stay - posted on 09/29/2006

Some folks say this is the "wrong" end of Duval, but we liked it for the peace and quiet, and still only a few minutes bike ride to Mallory Square. Nice pool area, good WiFi signal in our room. No maid service until nearly 4 pm both days - if you like to come back to your room for an afternoon snooze and don't want to be disturbed, be sure to call housekeeping in the morning and give them a time window. There was no "do not disturb"/"make up room now" sign in our room - could have used one. Apart from that, definitely recommended.

Thumbs up at Southernmost - posted on 09/08/2006

We were in the keys for a friends wedding, and the southernmost was the perfect place. The grounds (pool, tiki bar, room) were just perfect. The beach was alittle to be desired (rocky) but would recommend this place to first time key west visitors!

Good for the price - posted on 08/20/2006

We had an out of the way room tucked into the corner of the hotel. It was extremely small, but nicely decorated and comfortable. Definately a place for the younger crowd. It was on the far end of Duval but close enough to anything you might want to do.

Wonderful Time - posted on 07/19/2006

We were only able to stay one night because of other commitments but could have spent much longer. All of the staff that we encountered were pleasant and helpful. We dined at Abbondanza which is within walking distance. Food was wonderful and service was friendly. Breakfast was at Duval Beach Club. Their omelet filled with crab and shimp is fantastic. Hotel was perfectly placed close to the beach and a stroll from all the action.

So glad we picked this hotel! - posted on 06/28/2006

At half the price of the hotels up near Mallory Square, this hotel was perfect for us. Right on Duval, with several great restaurants in walking distance. (Get eggs benedict for breakfast at Alice's). One block from the beach. The Tiki bar at the pool has great bartenders and great drinks! Room was clean and comfortable. I liked having a balcony. Staff was great too. Can't wait to go back.

This is a great hotel to stay at. It is at the end of Duval St. Walk up and down Duval, it's a blast! There are 3 pools, they are all great!

Precious Memories - posted on 05/12/2006

We visited Key West to attend our daughter's wedding at the Southernmost Hotel. Our stay could not have been more comfortable and trouble free. Most of they contributed to make my daughter's wedding a fun and beautiful occasion. From the clean rooms, and the helpful, friendly staff, to the pools and the beach, everything was perfect. We couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful setting for her marrage. This setting made for precious life long memories.

A Great Stay - posted on 04/29/2006

The hotel was very nice. The pools (there are 3 you can choose from) were great. The rooms were smaller but clean and well maintained. The location is great. I would stay here again any time!

Southernmost Hotel is very clean and has one of the friendliest staffs I've ever encountered. The property is aesthetically pleasing and the pools and tiki bar areas are enjoyable.

We will return to this hotel - posted on 04/03/2006

The hotel room is nicely decorated and spacious. The bathroom is a bite small but functional. We love the location. The hotel is on the quiet end of Duvall Street and within walking distance to Hemingway's house. It has nice parking lots. A very nice place to take kids for a walk.

Nearly Ideal location - posted on 03/06/2006

This hotel is on the "wrong end " of Duval Street. That puts it about a mile walk from thepeak of the Duuval/Mallory Square chaos. An easy walk, the shopping starts in about two blocks. If walking is not your style, scooters, trikes, bikes are available in the lobby or across the street. Several nice restaurants within a couple of blocks, at bit pricey, but they are worth it. All in all a couple of very nice days in KW.

a nice place to stay - posted on 01/05/2006

we enjoyed this hotel, the location is great, the rooms nice, nice pools, well kept, not noisy. I think they could put some seating areas together and make it and really great place.

Nice! - posted on 09/13/2005

I brought the wife down to Key West in May 2005. I didn't really know what to expect. We were very happy with the Southernmost. The rooms were much nicer than we expected. And it's great being right on the "quiet" side of Duval; rent scooters and you can go wherever you like! And a good walk will get you to enough places if you don't want to get scooters (scooters are lots of fun, though)

I come done on business at least twice a month. I have stayed a several different hotels in the Keys in the last 3yrs, but since I stayed here, I have not stayed anywhere else. For the price, its very clean, the hotel staff is very helpful, friendly, and they always great you with a smile. I have stayed here probably 20 + times in the last year and half. I highly recommend this property. The older rooms are currently under renovations and once they are complete this hotel has it made. The price is great since they are located on Duval street.

Over 15 years, stayed many places in Key West. This was one of best. Quiet room, little patio, refrigerator, access to hot tub, private pier (but get there early as chairs go quickly). one mile to downtown--nice walk. free parking--a plus. We'll be back.

pros and cons of this hotel - posted on 05/14/2005

we really enjoyed the hotel being in the southern most point of U.S.A and its tropical view. The interior of the hotel was also very good but the rooms looked little old. The bathroom is quite disappointing in case of shower and the toilet seat is not at all clean. The A/C was fixed infrontof the bathroom. Bcoz of that the bathroom got very cold and we felt the room very hot. We were unable to store our food items due to lack of refrigerator and microwave oven. Finally we suffered due to all these things inspite of the higher price of this hotel.

Great experience - posted on 04/14/2005

We stayed for 8 days and would go back again if ever decided to go back to Key West. It is well taken care of and a great location. The food at the Beach Club was good but the service was lacking. The service at the hotel was excellent--very responsive and helpful.
