Walk into the Oxford Hotel in Denver’s Lower Downtown and take a step back in time. Settle into the legendary Cruise Room bar to be transported back to the Art Deco era when architectural lines were clean and cocktails were classic. Enter the hotel lobby and guest rooms to return to the late 1800s when city-center hotels were grand and extravagant. The opulence is enhanced by the updated comforts and necessities for today’s travelers, including high-speed internet access, multiple telephone lines, CD players and complimentary Cadillac car services to any of downtown Denver’s galleries, boutiques, theaters and restaurants. McCormick’s Restaurant on the main level offers one of Denver’s best happy hour menus; the adjacent Oxford Club Spa’s massages soothe away all the kinks from travel and some of the city’s trendiest nightspots are just a few steps away.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
The Oxford has won many accolades, including being elected one of “Colorado’s Most Romantic Hotels” and being named one of the “50 Best Hotels in the World,” for good reason. The guest rooms are luxurious, the guest service generally flawless, the history fascinating. Hotel events occur all year and range from hosting Denver’s International Wine Festival to holding elegant tea parties for girls and their dolls. But the single biggest attraction for many guests is the Cruise Room, which hasn’t changed since its Art Deco creation in 1933 when it was modeled after one of the lounges on the Queen Mary. The Cruise Room opened with great fanfare the day after prohibition was repealed. The original neon simply begs visitors to sit back, relax and enjoy a perfect martini. Read our customer reviews?
