Colorado Springs, CO 80903
Chain: Hilton Hotels and Resorts(U. S.)
As the only full-service hotel in downtown Colorado Springs, The Antlers offers top-notch service to travelers venturing off the interstate tourist route. The Antlers has been bathing guests in luxury for more than 120 years since its inception as a world-class resort in the then-settled Western US frontier. The hotel is within easy walking distance to Colorado College, downtown’s growing restaurant scene, shops and museums. The décor is what would be expected in a hotel named after large game animals: dark wood, leather upholstery and earth tones. Restaurant offerings include Antlers Grill for contemporary American cuisine and Judge Baldwin’s microbrewery, one of the city’s original brew pubs.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
For city-center convenience, scenery and history, The Antlers is a welcoming place amid Colorado Springs' large number of budget hotels and fast-food restaurants filled with tourists by the busload. The fitness center alone is worth a visit with its indoor pool surrounded by wide glass windows offering a spectacular view of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains. While three versions of the hotel have existed on the site -- the original Victorian resort named for founder General William Palmer’s collection of deer and elk trophy heads was replaced with an Italian Renaissance-style hotel after a fire in 1898, which was replaced in 1964 with the existing 13-floor modern version -- the hotel retains its old-style Western US charm inside.
