550 Village Road
Breckenridge, CO 80424
Chain: Rock Resorts
Located at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Peak 9, this large hotel offers guests a comfortable base for ski or summer vacations with mountain décor that includes big wood furniture, stone accents and ski-themed accessories. The Great Divide Lodge is just a short walk to Breckenridge’s quaint historic downtown with Victorian buildings dating to the mid-1800s, a vibrant nightlife and busy arts community. The Riverwalk complex, which offers a variety of performing arts, is just down the hill. A ski resort chairlift is about 50 yards away. The town’s free shuttle bus stops outside the main entrance and a hotel courtesy shuttle meets needs the town shuttle cannot. Several meeting rooms tend to the business traveler and Breck’s Lounge and Restaurant, a large, comfortable space, offers a wide selection of choices ranging from vegetarian entrees to burgers made with meat ground on-site.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
While the hotel is attractive and convenient, there's a sense that guests are being misled. Don't be fooled by room numbers. Two garage levels constitute the first two floors of the hotel. The lobby is on the third floor, so that the fourth floor is the first level of guest rooms and just the second above-ground level. Only the higher floors have mountain views. Many rooms on the fifth through eighth floors have views of one of the hotel's lower roofs and huge satellite dishes on the hillside. Workers and anyone else can walk right up to the 5th floor room windows, which are minimally secured. Rooms have no air conditioning. For warm summer days, a note by the heater suggests using the box fan in the closet. The restaurant is a long walk from the guest room elevators and service in the restaurant can be alarmingly slow, although once the food arrives, it’s quite good. Read our customer reviews?
