Hotel is very close to 405 highway. Pool and hot tub facilities were great. Workout room was substandard with broken equipment. Sound carries easily from room to room, much too easily. Cost to use computer in lobby is much too high (about $30/hr). Lack of microwave in rooms is a negative. Confirmed reservations are not necessarily honored.

The staff with one exception was remarkably attentive to our needs. The pool was warm.

Despite confirmed reservation they did not have our suite available. Woman at desk was very unhelpful at first to provide an acceptable alternative.

Very close to freeway, which is convent But if you leave the window open, you can hear the freeway.

Very child friendly. Pool area was excellent for children.

No snacks.

The 139-room Courtyard by Marriott Torrance/South Bay provides affordable quality accommodation for both the business and leisure traveler. The four-story, non-smoking is close to the 405 and 110 Freeways, putting many Southern California attractions within easy driving distance. Long Beach and the Queen Mary are to the south. The San Fernando Valley, Universal Studios and downtown Los Angeles are to the north and west are the South Bay beach communities. Items included with the room rate are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, parking, a morning newspaper and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel has two meeting rooms for business or social functions. The larger can accommodate 60 guests.

All the guestrooms, and 12 suites have a work desk with ergonomic chair and high-speed Internet access, cable television with movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, pullout sofa bed, hairdryer and two telephones with voicemail and data ports.

They are making changes at this Courtyard to try to stem the disappointing reviews the property has been getting. The hotel has upgraded its bathrooms and bedding; added a new lobby business library and scrapped the charges for Internet access. Frequent guests to this property say it has been going into decline for too long but they say they will give it another try. Hopefully those employees who were not giving their best have been retrained or moved to more fitting occupations. The property retains its YES rating because the location and rates are good. If the improvements attract back those unhappy clients, the YES rating will remain. If they vanish because of poor accommodation and service, so will that rating.
