Wished they had not advertise that they had a hair dryer in the room. It was barely warm air. My hair was horrible the whole stay. Take your own hair dryer.
Happy with Argonaut - posted on 01/25/2007
The Argonaut is in a great location on the Wharf. Fun and comfortable room and bed. Walking distance to many great restaurant, day cruises and stores (some unique and some touristy) and easy driving distance to the ocean and to other places of interest like Sausalito. Daily happy hour with free wine -- good wines and they pour a full glass. We had a great time!

Great location, beautiful decor. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor's TV. We requested a non-smoking room but our neighbor smoked and the smoke came into our room under the adjoining door and through the walls. Made it hard to relax. If you don't smoke, request a room with other non-smoker's on either side.

Great location, right on the wharf. Nicely decorated and ambiance that fits the area. Hotel staff couldn't have been better. Would've been nice to have a coffeemaker in the room. Restaurant is lousy, badly prepared food and marginal service. Go elsewhere to eat. Concierge was ok, set us up with two tours which worked out ok, but arranged transportation to airport which stunk. Stay away from the shuttle they use and take a taxi.
LOUD - posted on 09/24/2006
gorgeous hotel, awesome location, rooms are beautiful and spacious, beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls were made paper thin so we heard everything in our neighboring rooms. We complained and were moved, but it was no better. Screaming babies and small children next door were not very pleasant for a week-long romantic getaway for me and my husband. Hotel needs an adult-only floor, or to at least better insulate the walls. Front desk staff not very friendly but the doormen and bellmen were awesome.
Small and Loud - posted on 07/31/2006
The Argonaut could not have a better location. Perfect for whatever you want to do in San Francisco. BUT. The rooms are very small, the building is old and the noise level between rooms is LOUD. You can easily hear conversations in the next room without exception. TV noise radiates throughout the rooms. If you are a light sleeper this would not be a good bet for a relaxing stay.
Wonderful Time at the Wharf - posted on 07/30/2006
I was a little apprehensive when I saw the photos online, but I guess that's part of it's uniqueness. This is a top class hotel with execellent service. It's located right at Fisherman's Wharf right next to a cable car termination point. A few tips: (a) The line for the cable car can get long around noon. Earlier or later should be ok; (b) Parking is expensive, but it was worth it to me to avoid hasle; (c) There was no hook in our bathroom on which to hang cloths when in shower; (d) If you crave quiet, request an interior room. We had one and it was very quiet.
This Hotel added to the San Francisco experience - posted on 07/28/2006
The character of this hotel made my trip to San Francisco that much better. I would definitely ask for a room with a view since all I had was a brick wall to stare at. And if you're a couple make sure to ask for a king bed because the two queen seemed to be smaller than a normal queen.
Worst Experience Traveling - posted on 07/12/2006
This place is NOT for you if you are traveling for business. Service is terrible (took 40 minutes to get room service to pick up the phone). Walls are paper thin.

The Argonaut is in the best location down in the warf. it is close to pier 41, and 39. However I hope your not tall, they short sheet the beds.
wonderful hotel - posted on 06/21/2006
We stayed for 4 nights at the Argonaut. The hotel's location at end of Fisherman's Wharf and almost next to Ghirardelli Square is just about perfect for vacationing travelers - very convenient, yet quiet. Service is excellent, beds are extremely comfortable, rooms are well decorated and clean. The hotel's restaurant, Blue Mermaid, is very good (although we liked Capurro's across the street better for breakfast). The bowls of fruit in the lobby and the wine and cheese party in the afternoon are great added touches that make you feel good that you decided to stay there.
Looking forward to going back - posted on 06/09/2006
What a pleasurable stay. The location was superb. Being located on the wharf by so many great restaurants as well as conveniently located next to the cable car stop. The wine reception each evening was a very pleasant retreat at the end of a busy day. And the bedding sure makes for a comfortable nights sleep. Thanks much.

The hotel is just a name nothing great, the rooms are small and noise from the other rooms is heard very clear. Its not worth the money.

Great hotel in the best location on the quiet end of the Warf. Lovely interior, large room and friendly staff. Everthing was in close walking distance.

This was a great hotel, I would highly recommend it. In the heart of fisherman's wharf and close to public transportation.
Wonderful stay - posted on 05/03/2006
The location is beautiful. It is one small block from the cable car, two blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, and right across the street from the bay! The rooms were beautiful and VERY clean. The bellhops and concierge were extremely nice and helpful. Luggage storage is free and setting up a shuttle back to SFO is easy. Free wirless internet and free wine tasting between 5-6pm made this place the most pleasant and entertaining visits ever! Best of all it was VERY affordable.

5 Star Hotel - posted on 04/10/2006
The best Hotel by far we ever stayed in. The rooms were spotless and decorated very nicely. The staff was excellent along with the location and cleanliness. The complimentary wine hr was a great touch after a long day before dinner. The Blue Mermaid Restaurant on sight was also a great expirence. Very good food and easy to get in. When you walk out the front entrance you are right at the beginning of the Warf. Stay at this Hotel, you won't be dispointed.....
A Great Find - posted on 04/02/2006
You can't beat the location in Fisherman's Wharf. We didnt rent a car till after we left the city, Walked or took Cable car(Right behind Hotel) Definietly pop for the room with a view (and what a view!) otherwise you will be looking into a bland interior light well. Room enough for wife and me and grown daughter. Had a ball in the city! BTW don't think about walking up to Lombard Street unless you are in tip top shape!

This is a perfect place to stay--right on the wharf, walking distance to many attractions. Very clean, great maritime decor, friendly/funny/helpful staff. Hated to leave.

Staying here was a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic. The hotel and rooms are very nicely designed. Although the room was small, it did not seem that way due to the decor and layout. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We will definitely stay there again.
Only down side is room size - posted on 01/05/2006
We do confirm their convenient location, friendly folks and clean facility. We recommend however to avoid the cheaper rooms which may be facing bland inside walls rather than the Bay. In our opinion, the major downside is the size of the room - may be it's the shape of the room, too narrow for its length, which makes it look smaller. The room decoration may suit some tastes. A tip on parking: if you wait until 7 pm nearby street parking is free until 7 am. Although we did enjoy our stay, we would opt for other hotels on our next visit.

We spent two nights in a room facing fishermans warf. The room in very well designed, feels bigger than it is, and was very clean. Parkig is expensive, $36, but you can park in the next block for about $10 less. The atmosphere and location, as well as staff, are first rate. I will stay agian, without doubt.

This is a superior Hotel in a great location. The staff at this property really completes the deal. They are knowledgeable and friendly, and make you feel you are at a 5 diamond Hotel. I was very impressed and would stay at the Argonaut again. The rooms were very nice and clean and had a nautical theme. The Concierge's at the Argonaut are top Notch.
Great Hotel! - posted on 12/12/2005
Hotels in large cities, such as San Francisco always seem to be of less quality for a higher price. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Argonaut Hotel. We had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the room was clean and spacious.

We checked into the Argonaut and were greeted with warm welcomes and a painlessly quick check-in. The well-appointed lobby was decked out in Christmas trees with brightly lit ornaments that changed color. Our room was beautiful and spacious. Spotless bathrooms. Room service was fast. The hotel's location was perfect for our family. Right at the end of the Wharf and a perfect stay for walking all over. I can['t say enough about this hotel. Stay there. You'll be glad you did.

Want to pretend you're on a luxury cruise ship sailing the seven seas? Try the Argonaut in San Francisco. This renovated warehouse with its nautical theme is a joy. The lively and brightly decorated rooms are welcoming and the staff is number one. Walk out the front door and the Wharf beckons, just like departing a cruise ship. The evening wine tasting was a great way to meet travelers and Marque at the desk and John at the front door were great. If you want to experience San Francisco close up, I highly recommend the Argonaut.

Great location on Fisherman's Warf. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on at a hotel. Only draw back was the bathroom. Pedestal sink made it very difficult for multiple people to get ready. Service staff was exceptional.

Super service (the guy at the bell desk did some magic for my 6 year old and gave her a necklace from the treasure chest - NICE touch). Good rooms with a faux nautical theme. Perfect location. Pricey parking (sadly the norm for this area), but overall loved the experience. Highly recommended.
