I'm a fan of the W the staff was first rate and it had a FUN vibe that was laid back ..i did'nt get the impression that they were taking themselves tooo seriously! It was nice to look forward to going back to the hotel! I've already booked myself for the next time im in town

Ultra chic and modern. Appeals to business travelers, hip-young couples, gay friendly. It's worth the pretty penny if you're looking for something that stands-out, a place out of the ordinary from the stuffy white-walled, blue carpeted hotel room we're used to. It's fairly new, although the rooms are starting to show its age: furniture with scratch marks, dust flying out of the snack box as you pick up the $6 bag of peanuts. The front desk service could bring down their level of hip-ness a bit down to the guest's level. But all in all it's a very enjoyable and unique experience.

Great hotel in a great location. Modern and hip, without being pretentious. Smooth operation, good service. We spent 3 very comfortable nights there and would go back next time in The City.

Ultra hip hotel with ultra small rooms. closet is inadequate for luggage space. Starting to show signs of wear and tear. Front Desk staff tries hard to look "hip" but should focus more on excellent guest services. Trendy now but what about tomorrow??

What a great stay! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Concierge gave us great ideas as to where to eat and go out. The room was very clean and modern and I had a lot of fun. Very highly recommend it and its near all of the art attractions like the Museum of Modern Art and only a few blocks from Union Square. I'm so happy we stayed there!

We got in very early that morning and they let us check in. Concierge and staff were all 100% on service. Perfect location for Union Sq. shopping and Moscone Center.

This hotel is definitely one of the best I've stayed in over my 20+ years as a business traveller. Even when I had a problem they were gracious to be sure to remedy the situation quickly and courteously. No one's perfect, but this hotel is pretty darn close in my opinion!

The W Hotel San Fran... the right everything - room, view, food, bar, spa, service, attentiveness. Courteous, personalized service, combined with excellent facilities made for a wonderfull time away from the stress of running my own business. Having stayed at all the W's in NYC and a few others across the US, this level of excellence was no surprise , but the W San Fran was still able to get to the top of the W pile in my opinion. Kudos, props and thanks!

Arrogant!! Complete air of superiority! - posted on 02/25/2005
The hotel is quite nice, although clearly trying too hard to be cool. Rooms are small but very nice. The staff are rude, with a "you're lucky to be staying here" attitude. Maids and room service staff were the only exceptions. Front desk staff was the worst I have ever seen, anywhere! Prepare to pay large for food, drink, parking, etc.. The location is great for convention centre but still a few blocks from downtown.
