Great Hidden Place - posted on 01/09/2006

Although this hotel is only a few blocks from Union Square, the lack of flashy signs keeps it a great secret. Inside is the Redwood Room, a very popular high end lounge. The rooms are amazing and comfortable. Furniture is modern and the beds are amazing, down comforters and real thick pillow top matresses. Possibly the nicest kept secret for downtown San Francisco.

Very Disappointing - posted on 12/19/2006

This place is too hip for its own good. While the night club is the main attraction, the rooms leave much to be desired. The walls are thin and during our stay the staff allowed an underage party to disrupt our sleep well into the morning - until our 3rd call to complain - and then they were rude to me. We will never stay here again.

Nice enough - posted on 10/19/2006

Very hip bar & lobby, excellent service, but little water pressure in the bathrooms. Bedroom was nicely done. Don't like it, though, when these expensive hotels charge for internet access - seems so much like nickel and diming, especially when the hotel is very hip and should offer access for free.

An A+ Experience - posted on 10/18/2006

Overall, the hotel was fabulous! It was stylish and lovely; beds were the best I've slept in in a hotel; the location was very convenient; the staff was pleasant, young, hip, polite (to a middle-aged, not very hip person!); food in the hotel was pricey but very well prepared.

Dissapointed - posted on 09/13/2006

We have traveled all over the world and stayed at all levels of hotels. For what you pay to stay here, the rooms were average, room service prices were rediculous and don't forget your toothbrush because they'll charge you $6 for one. They don't have pay per view, they'll charge you $12 to rent a dvd. I could go on and on but will not be staying there again.

not worth your time - posted on 08/17/2006

The clift was lovely downstairs and the bellhops and valet were wonderful. The restaurant which is pricey but good, family style, doesnt give you much of a portion for a family style restaurant. However, the rooms are tiny, old poor TV's, the bathroom was old , the toliet was literally on top of the sink. When you sit your arm would be resting on the sink. And the carpets in the hallways and rooms were stained.

Great Vibe - posted on 08/09/2006

The hotel is very hip hotel. My only complaint is the size of the bathrooms, way too small for two people. The waitstaff, bars and personnel are all very friendly and accomodating.

First stay since the hotel was remodeled. Not my taste, but appears to be well done. Rooms are small and need some attention to detail, but an overall good value. Hotel staff are very professional and accomodating.

The hotel is very nice, service is excellent, location is great. The bathrooms are too small. Do not accept a room near the street if you do not want a possibly noisy night. I would stay here again.

Great place! - posted on 02/20/2006

Was surprised by how comfortable the place was (though the room was a little tight for one). Very friendly staff that handled anything I needed.

Trendy but soon to be dated - posted on 07/14/2005

It is an interesting hotel and I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for something unique. The focus is on appearance and not functionality. So, the room has lots of curtains and mirrors but zero storage space - my suitcase immediately made the place look cluttered. I found the branding and selling of merchandise in the rooms a bit much. For instance you can buy the alarm clock for $500. I'm not kidding.

Staying in Style - posted on 05/19/2005

I saw this in a hotel book and it proved worthy of a stay. The room was beautiful and looked just like photo # 3; the bathroom was modern and nicely appointed. The staff seemed friendly and there is a pricey but delicious and romantically lit Asia de Cuba outpost off the lobby, adjacent to the hotel's bar which is one of the current hot local watering holes. The popular young mayor was holding court off the lobby the first night. Only 2 blocks from Union Square - thin walls seemed to be the only drawback. If you are looking for a hip weekend stay in SF then this is it . . .
