My experience... - posted on 05/31/2005
Even the standard rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff are not only professional and efficient, but genuinely friendly and enthusiastic about making the most of your visit. Not the least trace of snobbery. As one who has traveled extensively in my career, this equals the best I have seen.

The room was very clean and the size and layout were adequate. Room service was exceptionally fast and the desserts ordered were what you?d expect from an excellent restaurant. One of the two bath robes was missing from our room. During our stay we had an unfortunate incident with the valet damaging our vehicle and then falsifying documents to cover it up (security tapes showed the truth). Correcting the situation took longer than it should have with several in-person discussions during our stay as well as back-and-forth phone calls after the visit. I?m disappointed in Fairmont.
Great Hotel/Great Service/Great View - posted on 03/05/2007
Hotel staff were wonderful. The hotel was awesome! But the view from our room was the greatest!! The upgrade suggestion we got at check in was the best thing we could have gotten. For just a little extra $ we got a room with a killer view and I have pictures to prove it!!!
Historical...hmm - posted on 11/28/2006
Among the many hotels we stayed in SF, this isn't one of the best, considering the price we paid for it. Room with no view, tasteless pseudo-historical furnishing, stuck window, non-functioning AC... We didn't realize bathrobes were missing until the second night. We weren?t even offered to receive Chronicle rather than NY Times. (In SF?) Welcome bottle of sparkling wine was a nice touch, but it was dipped in dusted lukewarm water. We feel sorry for the lack of finishing touch of attention the historical establishment deserves. Regrettably we will not recommend it to my friends.

My husband was recently on business in San Francisco so I chose to go with him for some sight seeing. I was very pleased with our stay at the Hampton Inn. This hotel is in a quiet area(we stayed at the one on Gateway Ave. in the business distrct). The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived three hours early and they let us check in ahead of time. We enjoyed the free hot breakfast each morning. The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport and surrounding areas.

As wonderful as I expected - posted on 07/07/2006
My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and we loved it! The service is unbelievable, and even though it's cheaper, I think the old part of the hotel is the best because they've done an excellent job of keeping its original excellence. The dining was wonderful, and the location is convenient to Chinatown, Union Square, and the cable car on Powell St. My only complaint was that I didn't know that the parking would be $45 a night. The price is the same if you valet or self-park, so you might as well valet. I don't think I could stay anywhere else now!

The serive was first rate. Someone was there to help you with anything you needed. The accomodations were beautiful and the staff treated you like royalty. Restaurant recommendations were outstanding. Special needs were met with enthusiasm. The building and the lobby are architecturally amazing.

This wonderful hotel has been restored to its original, breathtaking beauty. The lobby and restaurant/bar area are gorgeous. It's really one of the most visually beautiful hotels we have ever seen. The rooms are modern, with luxurious bathrooms, and the room rates are very reasonable. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The views from atop Knob Hill can't be beat - just walk out the door and hop on the Powell Street cable car to Union Square. What a fantastic location!
What you pay for! - posted on 08/17/2005
I can not say enough good things about this place. From start to finish every single person we encountered at the hotel was genuinely friendly. Every request I had was met and surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend doing the bed and breakfast here. The buffet is simply amazing. You get what you pay for which is hard to say about a lot of similar caliber hotels.

The ambiance and personal service were excellent. Room was large and clean. The personnel were friendly and helpful. Tonga Room menu was too limited for kids, but Laurel Court and room service were outstanding. Prices were high but the lobby sundries store items were reasonable. The overall costs were worth it though if you want to pamper yourself.

The service was excellent - the rooms were fantastic. I booked the room for my mom who was visiting. She had a great time and would love to stay there again.
