Modern Hotel - posted on 03/29/2007

This hotel was nice, if you like the stiffness of Modern decor. The room we stayed in was very small, hardly any place to walk, but my parents who stayed next door had a bigger room with a bathroom double the size- for the same price! Only stayed one night so I didnt get to try out the pool, or really get an idea of the service, etc.

Service Above and Beyond! - posted on 03/18/2007

I went for my Honeymoon. My wife and I travel A GREAT DEAL. This is a first class hotel experience. It is a boutique experience that shouldn't be missed

Extremely Impractical & Costly! - posted on 06/09/2006

Very impractical d?r ? and they nickel and dime you to death (they charge for toiletries!). The d?r was ?gloomy modern? (very uncomfortable atmosphere). There was only one drawer in the room (the nightstand)! There were so many decorative pillows, we had to stuff them under the desk to use the bed (which made the desk unusable). The sink was shallow and splattered everywhere. Dining was expensive. Parking was valet only and cost $24/day (we found a nice parking garage 1.5 blocks north for $9/night). I checked out with $66 in extra charges, but my credit card was charged almost $200.

Party Hotel - posted on 01/18/2006

This is a teenager's version of a 4 star hotel. Pseudo classy, emphasis on the look, but not the function, heavy on the party crowd. Don't get a room facing the pool, even if it's up high. The music and LOUD party noise go til 1 am., and people party later in the hotel. The staff was nice, but young and clueless. We laughed alot at how there was NO place to set stuff down in the room, or the bath. No where to even hang a bath towel! I wouldn't pay more to stay here again..

Small is best - posted on 07/28/2005

Tired of big hotels? this is a good alternative. Checking in/out was the low point for us..more staff would have helped! We were pleasantly suprised at the room size and funky decor. The restaurants funky themed, creative menu was great, not cheap though. The pool is small and not a kid pool, more a grown up concept. The location is perfect for walking and driving to major attractions. Bottom line, boutique hotels are small and attract funkier crowds. With 3 teenage sons, we just aren't large hotel people.

Great Location - posted on 07/08/2005

We did not rent a car, but didnt need one. We were able to walk almost anywhere, and if we could not, the trolley was 2 blocks away. The rooms are very "modern" but comfortable. My husband wanted to take surf lessons and the front desk was very helpful in getting him one last minute. The restaurant was a little too "chic"/expensive for our taste, but did not matter we were blocks away from plenty of restaurants. Also 2 blocks away from Petco park, which was perfect since we came from Chicago to see a Cubs games. Overall a great stay and we would stay there again.

Very - posted on 04/30/2005

This was a one night stay, for business reasons and if I had been alone, it may have been a little better. NOT for famalies. it is VERY cramped, everywhere. I dont like feeling like I am staying in somebodies closet,It seems they dont put any emphasis on the pool area. , NOT what they advertised. Didnt have the goldfish..my boys were disappointed. And it wasnt that the menu was just lacking any selection for my 4 & 5 yr olds, but the selection just wasnt appealing to me either and I have pretty eclectic taste buds. It seemed very limited to me.
