Customer Reviews for W San Diego

Home is where the W is - posted on 04/23/2007

I'm a local. Staying at the W for the evening instead of driving home after an evening of dancing and drinking is the best vacation ever. I took my daughter and 3 of her friends for an evening of fun and we all had a great time. The downstairs bar is super fun and all ages were seen enjoying the music. I can't wait to go back next month!

Really cool and hip place. Geared toward young singles. Good staff, funky cool rooms. Nice toiletries. Ridiculously expensive food ($8 bagel!?!). Expensive internet. But this place caters to people who don't care about cost.

nice hotel - posted on 09/11/2006

Recommend for young people. Beach bar unique, sand, firepit and cabanas are fun. Lobby bar popular with young locals. Beds comfy, large built-in desk . (we picked up free wireless) Baths ok, but strange door allows you to see in even when closed. Very high quality soap, shampoo, lotion (Bliss- available at Sephora). Secure elevator needs door key access for 'guest floors' appreciated considering the popularity of bars and restaurants. Not best hotel for small children. Pool looks fun, but small and near access to Beach Bar, so not great for kids.

Cool fun place, high energy and modern. On the weekends the first 2 floors get very busy with the night club scene. The location is great. Walking distance to Seaport Village and the ocean. You can see Coronado Bridge and island from a south facing room. Fridge in room, ice on to few floors. The room was modern but worn a little. The service is excellent. The valet parking is fairly quick. When you leave the hotel for the day they always ask if you need directions or anything else. They all know the where, what and when.

Not as high classed as I would have expected - posted on 06/13/2006

The Hotel was decorated nicely. The staff aimed to please but fell short especially with housekeeping. Room not straightened until we called at 3p.m.. No refrigerator, no access to ice unless you call someone and no shower caps available.Charges for ammenities were off the wall-$8 for water???

Very trendy with eye popping lobby (oversized chess game and chairs, techno bar, smoothies on arrival at front desk.) Roof top 'beach" calls out for mingling. Pool lounges are fun. Rooms have blackboards amd modern bathrooms. Fun place!

Everything is high quality. Decor, while being very modern, works nicely. The staff is the win for W San Diego, EVERYONE was outstanding!

Every single moment of my stay was better then the next. I have stayed at many hotels all over the world, and this was my favorite. BRAVO W

It was just OK - posted on 04/28/2005

I expected it to be fabulous and it was just ok--valet service was awful. They need to get the basics down before focusing on things like the DVD library. VERY comfortable bed and a clean room.

Beautiful modern hotel...a very hip hangout with crowded "beach" rooftop bar and lobby. Small but highly efficient rooms with modern slant.
