The San Diego Courtyard Marriott is located three blocks outside of Old Town, a tacky, tourist trap, below one of its tiniest neighborhoods. The hotel has a small swimming pool and a Jacuzzi, and access to computers in the lobby. While the quality of the desk staff varied, the maid service was excellent, and one desk clerk, Jameson was honest, helpful and engaging. One of the best things about the location is that it is walking distance to the San Diego trolley service, which for $5 will get you anywhere from the northern end of the city, to the border of Tijuana on the south.

The concierge was excellent.

No complimentary breakfast and an overpriced restaurant.

The 176-room Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Old Town combines old-world charm with modern day comfort for both the business and leisure traveler. The four-story, non-smoking property is within walking distance of the old town and the hotel sells tickets for trolley tours. Items included in the room rate are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. There are four meeting rooms available for business or social functions. The largest can accommodate 170 guests. Other attractions within easy driving distance include eight golf courses, the San Diego Zoo, Legoland, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Del Mar Racetrack and the Quail Botanical Gardens.

The location, just two blocks from the old town, was the attraction for many visitors to this Courtyard. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the employees were friendly and efficient. There are 150 shops and restaurants to explore nearby. So the swimming pool was the perfect place to relax after sightseeing or a day of work. Most clients said they would stay here again and had no hesitation in recommending this property to others.
