Loved our Family Vacation - posted on 03/28/2007

We planned a great vacation to Sea World and we stayed at the Bahia. It was a wonderful hotel. Great Location and free upgrade. Don't listen to the bad reviews!!! Staying again in June!!

Best winter vacation - posted on 02/12/2007

My husband and I stayed in February. We had almost the whole place to ourselves. It was wonderful. We stayed in a garden room, but had a view of Mission Bay. I love the seals near the lobby, particularly Gracie. Perfect walking distance to the ocean. Also on a very easy to navigate bus line (8/9) to nearby attractions, restaurants. Shuttle to airport was very efficient. Very friendly workers. Beautiful pool and huge spa. Game room with free games. Can't wait to go back.

San Deigo Fun - posted on 01/23/2007

It was a great place to stay.We had off season prices so it was very resonable.Free play arcade games was great and the seals were alot of fun.The desk was very helpful,we needed a crib and got it no charge.A bit outdated but had everything in room(dishes, pots and pans and silerware).Only trouble was it was windy and power went off twice.

BRAVO BAHIA! - posted on 12/18/2006

WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH OUR ACCOMODATIONS AND THE SERVICE AT THE BAHIA. THE LOCATION IS BEAUTIFIL WITH WATER ON ALL SIDES IN THE MISSION BAY AREA. WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE MISSION BEACH BOARDWALK AREA AND SOUVENIR SHOPS, AND LOCAL EATERIES. HOTEL HAS A WONDERFUL POOL AND HUGE HOT TUB, FREE ARCADE ROOM FOR THE KIDS, VERY HELPFUL CONCIERGE. THEY UPDRADED US FROM A ROOM TO A SUITE, SO WE HAD A BEACH OUT OUR BACK DOOR. WE WOULD STAY AGAIN.

Don't let the website photos fool you!!!! - posted on 09/08/2006

Our 1st room was a "Garden Room View". The only garden was a shrub in front of a shack they called a room. It was adjacent to a public beach in which anyone could access. We relocated to a "Garden View Studio". Again no gardens however we felt safer being on the 3rd floor. The ice machines are located in the lobby; a problem if you are farthest on the property. With the constant traffic from the public beach we did not feel safe at night. For the same price you can stay at the Hilton 2 blocks away.

A Great Stay! - posted on 07/27/2006

Overall, the Bahia was a great stay for my family, with a 4 and two year old. The pool was very nice, the seals were great, and the kitchenette in the room really helped us out a lot. Housekeeping was very good, and it was just a short walk to the beach!

Had a blast!!! - posted on 07/02/2006

Just got back from our stay at Bahia, wish we could have stayed longer! My 2 year old loved the seal pool, the private beach, and the close proximity to the amusement park. We also were able to walk to Sea World. Can't wait to go back!!

The room itself was old and in need of some repairs. The staff was great and the view and location were the best.

Great Family Stay - posted on 06/18/2006

This was a great place for a family with active kids. The pool was great for our 1 and 3 year old boys. It is a short drive from many casual restaurants. Its around the corner from Sea World and a short walk/drive from the beach. We had a great time and would definitely consider returning in the future.

You can do much better... - posted on 05/21/2006

The hotel is a throw back to the 50's/60's. It was dark and in my opinion in need of renovations (new carpet, furniture, etc....) and a deep cleaning. There are several different sections to this hotel. My experience left me with the feeling that I paid too much money for a dingy hotel.

Cool Retro H(m)otel - posted on 05/09/2006

Spent 4 nights here last summer. Although the rooms could use an upgrade, now that mid-century modern is back in style, the look is really cool. A little shopworn, but cool. Service good, food good, pool good. Great location on the Bay and EZ walk to Mission Beach and Belmont Park. This was a memorable and enjoyable trip. For those who complain about noise and price: 1) Its a vacation hotel near Mission Beach 2) You pay for location at Beach hotels, not room interiors.

Disappointed - posted on 03/31/2006

This is basically a motor court with a pool and 2 tennis courts. Very old. Has a good location but I haven't stayed in a room like this decades. Reminds me of the 50's or 60's. We would never stay here again. Plus the prices are high. This was our first time to the area and there are plenty of other very nice hotels at lower prices. Now we know. Plus the hotel was very noisy.

OUR HONEYMOON - posted on 02/22/2006

We chose San Diego for our Honeymoon and researched Bahia well. We spoke with the staff before and after out purchase and they upgraded and accomidated our every request. I've been all over the Caribbean and San Diego - to us - was magical. The experience at Bahia was likewise, wonderous. Best time of my life.

Love this place! - posted on 02/09/2006

We love it here! The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the service is always excellent, and the Seals are an extra treat! Everything about Bahia is wonderful and the views of the Bay are just an added plus...This is definitely someplace that we would recommend to friends and family!

charged to much for the room - posted on 01/08/2006

the room was not worth the price. The carpet was coming apart at the seams. There were spaces in the windows so the wind would blow through them and you could hear them whistling, not to mention the cold air. We had been upgraded to a studio and that still wasn't worth the cheaqper price we paid.

Beautiful Views - posted on 01/03/2006

We stayed in a suite with a kitchen that had everything we needed to bake and cook. The night we arrived we went to the store and made sandwiches. The next morning we cooked a big breakfast. The hotel was clean, comfortable with great views of the ocean. I will be staying at the Bahia Resort on my next trip to San Diego.

Save your money - posted on 08/22/2005

The rooms remind me of the 70's. the website is very deceiving. Nothing has been updated in over 30 years. The vent in the bathroom fell from the ceiling as I was brushing my teeth! The drawer handle fell off when I went to open them and the bed frame was lop-sided! The pool/spa was nice and there are activities to keep the kids occupied. We did enjoy renting bikes, boats, etc. but it's not affiliated with the hotel. Next time we'll stay at another hotel on the bay.

Perfect Hotel for a Seaworld weekend - posted on 08/10/2005

My wife and I brought the family down for the weekend to go to Seaworld and the Zoo and was expecting a frustrtaing and tiring experience. But I have to say that the staff at the Bahia made our trip 50 times more enjoyable. They were curtious, knowledgeable about San Diego, and extremely accomodating. I felt that the rooms were a little dated, but very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends in a heart beat.

Nice Family Beach Hotel - posted on 07/13/2005

I would agree that the rooms need to be updated, but it is a beach hotel, not the Ritz. Beyond that, the facilities were great for families. Had 6 kids between 2 families ages 17 to 9 and there was something for all of them to do when we stayed on the grounds. Great location with easy drives to La Jolla, Old Town, Gas Lamp, etc. Great running routes around the bay, easy kayaking from the hotel marina. Could be active or relax and take it easy. Staff friendly and accomodating

Mixed Bag - posted on 07/01/2005

We've stayed here twice because the kid's liked it. We got a garden facing room which was actually a nice feature. I like their garden, their beach (for sunbathing digging - no swimming though) the free sternwheeler ride, the seals that live in an enclosure on property. and mattresses were indeed uncomfortable. I've decided not to stay again.

For the money you spend at Bahia there is no way anyone should go there, you can spend less and stay at much nicer place. Personally i would not stay here again.

Not Impressed - posted on 05/11/2005

The pictures make this hotel look really nice but it's old (built in 1950's) and needs renovated or they need to lower the price
