nice room - posted on 06/01/2007
they told me in advance that they were under renovation. lobby was very small and cramped. when i checked in i was offered an upgrade to either the tower or to a 3 level building that had bigger rooms. i chose the bigger room and it was basically a junior suite with a seperate living room, nice bathroom (except for low flow shower), nice bedroom and nice view of boats in their slips. room was very clean and nice and nice upgrade with no upcharge. the parking valet is very busy and not very well attended. the $14 parking charge was a bit much for what it was.
TERRIBLE - posted on 05/28/2007
I wish I had read the previous reviews before booking here. Check in was joke. Two clerks with two computers in small lobby, over 50 people waiting in line going outside the doors. Charged for everything! Parking ($14 for self, $16 for valet), Internet ($9.95) , water bottles in fridge ($4.95). NO HOT WATER all evening (letter left under door with half hearted apology) No pools, fitness center due to renovations. Overpriced. Do NOT book this hotel!!
Warning Construction Going On - posted on 02/09/2007
This hotel was under renovation while we were there. They did offer us a different room away from the construction, however, it would mean going from a king bed to two double beds. This was not what we wanted. We stayed near the construction, but stayed away from the hotel as long as possible. It would have been better if we were informed of the construction ahead of time. Their service was excellent and corrteous.

Be aware - posted on 12/09/2006
The room walls are paper thin, you can hear everything that goes on. While at my stay, they had to shut down my water for repairs. The pipes were screaming the entire night, and I barely got any sleep. I also got charged $14 per night for parking... Everything was overpriced. Pluses were view and staff service.
disappointed - posted on 11/29/2006
The hotel is located in a wonderful area with great views ocean and city views the rooms a large. After that it is over priced for what you are getting. The rooms, towels, liens are filthy. filthy, liens. The food in the restaurant had mold. Never again.

Had a great stay while at our son's grad. from MCRD, Sea World pkg. is the way to go. Excellent room service, comp. breakfasts with pkg. No complaints, at all.
Great view, but that - posted on 07/08/2006
Excellent ocean view, you can't find better ( ask for 8th floor or higher in the tower). Other than that a disappointment. Room was standard hotel fare, was expecting more for for $* a night. Room service excellent but housekeeping missed us the first day, had to call them. Then had to call them back next morning for coffee cups. NO REFRIGERTOR OR MICROWAVE ! No shuttles, food very expensive. Next time will stay somewhere else and get the same thing (minus ocean view) for half the money. BEWARE...BALCONY CONSTRUCTION/REPAIRS IN PROGRESS..SOME ROOMS VIEW IS BLOCKED.
Nice place, great location - posted on 06/27/2006
Been staying here for years, it keeps getting more expensive, but what hotel doesn't? Went to check in and were told the room balcony was under "maintenance" (read: reinstalling the balcony railing). The work required the balcony to be "sealed", we would not be able to open the door! I demanded a different room, which they accomodated. Staff very friendly, room service lightning fast (both times we used it), parking extra $14 per night, more for valet. I like that it's close to the beaches and Mission Bay / Sea World. Get an ocean view room it's worth it...

There were no surprises -- the suite and the room were good, though a bit tired. We found plenty of places to grab meals off Sports Arena Blvd so helped offfset high prices and limited choices in hotel restaurants. Ongoing construction in the main tower was a bit of a nuisance, but they were pretty good about when they started it. Location is great and good value foir money. Wacth out or $15 daily parking fee.

Plus: Very clean, easily accessible, close to major attractions, good value for money Minus: Difficult to find, no nearby restaurants Comments: For breakfast try Coco's on Midway and Sports Arena, for dinner Thai Time II on Midway

This was my second stay within two months. Its conveniently located next to the marina, which is great for scuba diving. The staff is very friendly as well.

When I booked my the hotel I was expecting to stay at a "hotel." The room that we were given was like staying at a Motel. It was terrible. When I went to complain they upgraded us to a updated clean room in another building. Just MAKE SURE when booking the room that you are in the tower. The picture looks so nice but beware because they have 5 different buildings and everything is in the Tower. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful with everthing.
Beautiful Views and grounds - posted on 10/17/2005
The grounds are beautiful. Awaterfall and Koi pond plus gardens. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. We had a marina view, very nice. Staff said remodeling coming after start of 2006. So prices will probably go up... dont wait to go stay now.

We loved it - posted on 07/06/2005
Just returned last weekend from our first visit to San Diego. We were very happy with this hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, I was expecting one of the least expensive rooms since we didn't pay for much. They upgraded us for free to an ocean view room on the 9th floor of the tower. The views were outstanding!! Also, since we booked through AAA, they told us that we would get free breakfast every morning at the hotel restaurant.... the buffet or anything off the menu. Great deal. Recommend going through AAA if you have it.

Got to room and a previous repair that had been done to the shower looked like mildew. The maid never really cleaned the bathroom our entire stay. Did thoroughly enjoy the balcony and room service. Definitely just a 3 star hotel
Summer Vacation - posted on 06/28/2005
From housekeeping, to the bell stand, to everyone at the Hyatt front desk, everyone treated us well, was very helpful and honest. The pool and hot tub were lovely, the restaurants served good food, and the room was wonderful. The only problem we had was being charged to park overnight when it was difficult finding a spot to park in after returning from a full day of activities. Overall, it's a great place to stay. It also would have been nice for them to serve complimentary coffee or continental breakfast each morning.
Not What We Expected - posted on 05/23/2005
Although we liked the location, we expected the hotel to be in better condition considering what we paid. We could have stayed at an economy hotel and gotten similar quality and free breakfast.
