Customer Reviews for Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

Escape - posted on 02/22/2006

I escaped to San Diego subsequent to a dramatic episode in my life. My stay at the Manchester was rejuvenating, relaxing, and beautiful. The Gaslamp district is close for dinner and atmosphere, Seaport Village is conveniently located for shopping, but the view of the marina from my room was the absolute best!

The hotel has a great view, close to down town of San Diego. I really recommend you for staying

We stayed here during a convention in May. The rooms were wonderful, staff friendly and helpful, and views were incredible. I loved this hotel and hope to get back there again soon. It was sad to checkout!!!

Hotel facade is grand, location is great, but DO NOT expect to get the customer service you deserve. Customer service at the front desk is inferior as the associates we talked to were very rude and not service-oriented at all. Not fit for a grand entrance - it's just a facade - and certainly not worth spending your money on!

Beautiful Hotel - posted on 05/22/2007

We stayed at this hotel for a business trip and were treated very well. The staff is friendly, the food is good and the hotel is beautiful! The view was great and the room was clean. The beds were so comfortable. We never got a key to the mini-bar and we called and told the person who checks the bar several times and were told a key would be sent up and one was never sent up. Also, the rooms were extremely small for the price. The train was quite annoying as another poster wrote, but what do you expect in the middle of the city?

very expensive - posted on 04/11/2007

We are a family of four with 2 small children and have always like to stay at a Hyatt as our first choice anywhere. However, this one is such a disappointment! The room is small and club level service was lousy. We always like to be pampered by the Hyatt exclusive Club Level Floor and are always willing to pay a little extra for this special treament. However, this hotel Regency Level leaves little to be desired. The concierge was rude and ignored me. They are also not kid friendly at all. Trust me, its not worth the dollars. Stay elsewhere!

Not bad, but won't return. - posted on 03/19/2007

Hotel lobby was impressive, but was less impressed with the room. There was some wear-and-tear that I didn't expect. The worst thing was the train that ran on the tracks across the street from the hotel. It woke me up several times during the night. The breakfast buffet was included in the price of our room, and it wasn't bad, although there wasn't a big variety of things to eat. Get to the restaurant early, though. At 10:30 a.m., there was a long line out the door of people waiting to get in.

Worst Hotel We've Ever Stayed In - posted on 11/28/2006

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. When we asked for a featherbed, the hotel sent it up but we had to put it on the bed ourselves. Housekeeping would not help. Also, we found room service to be extremely rude. When we complained, the manager actually argued with us. Although it has a great location, we would never stay here again. Do not stay at this hotel.

worth the extra - posted on 08/10/2006

Comfortable yet classy decor, easy to relax ambience, first-rate services, attentive and friendly staff, somewhat pricey but worth it. Very nice pool, family friendly yet well monitored. Definitely would return.

the hotel was clean and conviently located. the pool area was less than desirable, no drinks available and no music or atmosphere.the gym was excellent and hours were very condusive.parking was outragiously expensive, no appreciable discount for guests of the hotel. staff was friendly and helpful. i would return.

Inconsistant lodging - posted on 07/12/2005

We thought the hotels public areas were very nice, the staff was friendly but the rooms were not up to the same par. The beds were horrible, the fan in bathroom didn't work and never got repaired during our 5 day stay and the supervision around the pool was inadequate. The pool was overrun by drunken teenagers and made it too uncomfortable for our family to enjoy.

Great location but service soso - posted on 03/30/2005

Great location, right off seaport village and walking distance to Gaslamp. The food at breakfast buffet at Sally's is just ok. The servers were very polite and welcoming. The room is nicely decorated and well maintained. The maid service was poor, apparently didn't clean enough. Recommend this hotel to someond who like to stay close to the convention center(next door), or like to stay in downtown area.

Very Enjoyable - posted on 02/22/2005

We spent a long Valentines Weekend at the Manchester. The king size bed was very comfortable, the view was lovely, the Hotel is quite beautiful. We even got a surprising amenity, warm cozy robes delivered quickly and cheerfully. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the great service!!
