We had a downstairs room for the handicap and it had been newly renovated. It was clean except for the carpet and it was not real bad. Breakfast was good with the usual to choose from. Would stay here again.
great location - posted on 03/20/2007
We were in San Diego for my son's Marine Corp graduation. The staff were extremely friendly considering they put up with Marine family every week of the year. The free shuttle from the airport and to all the graduation activities made our trip so convienient as we did not even need a rental car. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in San Diego. I would stay there again.

Attended sons Marine Corps graduation. Great location- close to just about everything. Spacious rooms, soft beds, great service. Continental Breakfast only so so, but other options nearby. Wished walls thicker- noisy. Water for shower warm, but not hot. Overall would recommend & stay again.
Great Room - posted on 11/18/2006
I was feeling sick and we arrived early. My wife informed the front desk and the front desk clerk (bless her heart) had the cleaning staff prepare a really nice room (fridge, microwave, etc.) within a short time. The room was clean and very comfortable. The courtesy shuttle to Seaworld was convenient and on-time.

Holly sheets or out of luck... - posted on 07/17/2006
The sheets and blankets had holes; TV had 1 kids channel; our airconditioner broke down on our second day and, even though, I spoke to 2 different people at two different times, nothing was fixed. We came back from the Zoo at 10pm and it was 85 degrees in our room. I was travelling with a child and asked for another room or had to look for another hotel the following day. I was asked if I want to check out!
Great deal for the money - posted on 07/12/2006
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean, modern and decorated nicely. The manager was helpful and nice. The pool is small but other than that this was a great place to stay. It was much better than most 2 start hotels.
Exceeded my expectations - posted on 06/30/2006
X at the desk was wonderful! He acted like he couldn't do enough for us. We stayed at 4 hotels while on our vacation and this was the only one to ffer both a fridge and microwave in the cost of the room along with a lovely breakfast. Teas, coffee, juices, muffins, danish, eggs, bagels, toast and fruit.Something for everyone. For $* a night, I was afraid of what we would get, I was very pleased. There's a Walgreen's next door, and the Mexican restaurant had my 2 boys vommitting. Be careful what you order! Excellent stay , overall!!!!!
Convienient-Would stay again - posted on 06/05/2006
The hotel is older, but recently remodeled and the rooms are fine. Located close to many attractions and beach. Seemed to be a real bargain. Breakfast was just OK, but there is an Einstein's just across the street.
Nice remodel - posted on 05/02/2006
The rooms were beautiful but first appearance of the place is scary- the outside needs an update too. The shuttle to Sea World went an hour after it opened and returned an hour before it closed so you lost time at Sea World. Breakfast was OK for a continental breakfast, pool was very, very small but nice. We would stay here again.
Not What I Expected - posted on 04/18/2006
From the pictures on the website I expected a typical Howard Johnson Motel. The rooms are small and the pool is only about 15 feet long by 7-8 feet wide. There is still some renovation going on in the breakfast area. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a printed itinerary for the military graduation ceremonies that was extremely helpful.
Nice but Noisy - posted on 03/29/2006
The rooms were newly remodeled and very clean. The close proximity to Rosecrans St. & the airport created a noise problem. Also, we had noisy neighbors when we went to sleep and were awakened by banging on a door two rooms down at 5:30 a.m. Not the hotel's fault, just our bad luck! Overall, a nice place to stay for the price (and because we didn't have much to choose from since we booked last minute!)
Not the best choice - posted on 03/19/2006
We had noise with people walking by our room at night. It was loud enough to wake my family up several times. The breakfast was not very good compared to other hotels. The pool looked dirty. The ice machine didn't work.
A Terrific Experience - posted on 02/23/2006
We stayed overnight in a king nonsmoking handicapped room for a day trip to SeaWorld. Staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Immaculately clean, obviously newly rennovated. Nice continental breakfast served. Very convienent location for most of San Diego. Much better than we expected from any Howard Johnson's - easy to see why they won the Howard Johnson of the Year award. We will be returning to stay at this property for our next day trip to San Diego.
