i come from a very small town i had my first plane ride and my first journey out of that small town and was treated like a queen so were my companions i am in the process of planning another trip there soon and i will have a room at the palace thanks to all

Great older hotel, centrally located to downtown and mission bay. easy access to city transit service. Getting a make over. Rooms are well insulated, rooms are quiet even though next to freeway. Friendly helpful staff. Has a small well stocked store with things you might need. Saves running around trying to find a store. Will stay here again. Does need larger parking spaces for larger vehicles, like pickup trucks.

Negatives-room 229 had a patched ceiling, wet carpet near table in room corner, paint spotted cable cords pulled away from wall, an ozone meter lying in a corner on the floor, a broken sink stopper, an uncomfortable bed, and an overpowering smell of mildew and paint. Next morning, after request, we were moved to new room which was in much better condition. Rooms are postage stamp size. Positives-Motel is close to downtown, Marine Recruit Depot, and airport. Staff were friendly. Parking was adequate. Nonetheless, I wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel was great. Everything went smooth from check in to check out. There was a slight problem with the fire alarm going off one night at 1:30 in the morning. Even though a lot of guests complained and wanted a free room, I know it was beyond their control, and at least the fire alarm worked incase there was a real fire! I think the service at the hotel was great and outweighed that minor incident.

I have been staying at this location for years. I bring a volleyball team here every year and it always is a blast. The hot breakfast for 12 16 year olds is ideal and very helpful.

Breakfast was really great - much more than you would expect. Mini-market open 24 hours was nice. Rooms were clean. BUT, all double queens face the highway - VERY NOISY. The jacuzzi smelled and looked questionable for clean. We had one roach run down the mirror in the daytime. No air conditioning in the hallways - very hot! Both luggage carts had continual flat tires. Our group stayed in 4 different rooms and all complained the pillows were horrible. It was convenient drive into heart of Old Town but not really walkable. I would not recommend the property.

Hot tub clean and good condition. Breakfast was great. A little deli/snack shop on site.2 online computers. free parking was a plus and the staff were great. We would certainly go back if we were in san Diego.

If you are looking for a place to stay that is affordable, has many features and is close to everything, this is a great choice. Being right on the freeway, keep your window closed for noise but that freeway also allows easy access to the airport and all that San Diego has to offer. Free use of online computers in the business center, deli, small store, great continental breakfast, good service and fridge and microwave in the room make it a great place to stay. Rooms are basic but clean. Old Town is a short and easy walk away. Best continental breakfast I have ever had when traveling.

5 minutes walk from Old Town, 15 minutes drive from downtown. The location is perfect. Ask for a room facing the San Diego Avenue , other side faces highway and is very noisy. The room was clean and breakfast excellent.Good service too.
