Customer Reviews for Wyndham San Diego At Emerald Plaza

  - posted on 05/07/2007

There was a desk with no drawers and no chair in the room. The buttons for express service, messages, etc. on the telephone did not work. You had to dial "O" for operator to get anything. I ordered a chicken caesar salad for $18 from room service. The chicken was cold and like a piece of leather. I waited for the salad for an hour after placing the order and 1 1/2 hours for a replacement. The in-room Starbucks Coffee was great.

Terrific Stay - posted on 10/26/2006

After staying at the Wyndham we were surprised at the negative comments some people have said about this hotel. Service was exceptional and the rooms very nice. They are renovating the hotel and the room we had was completely new. You should ask for a renovated room if you are going there soon. They said renovations would be complete early in 2007 including the lobby, restaurant and bars. We didn't think the lobby or restaurant even needed it. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Not worth the price - posted on 10/06/2006

The lobby was nice. The room was small and outdated. One of the phones did not work. The bathroom had leaking faucets, yellow / orange leaking marks on the ceiling and the blowdryer sounded like it was going to blow up. The breakfast buffet was horrible. The parking was outrageous. Not a 4 star hotel and not worth the price.

Dirty Bathroom - posted on 08/16/2006

Nice lobby, Okay room but rather dated -- parking expensive but no different than other accomodations in the area. The disgusting thing was the bathroom --- smelled bad and had brown stuff (vomit or whatever) on the OUTSIDE of the toilet bowl -- 4 Star hotel??? I think not!!

Disappointed. Stay Somewhere Else!! - posted on 08/09/2006

Everything about this hotel reminded me of a Motel. The entire floor, a non smoking floor, smelled of beer, smoke and even when moved to another room/floor it was the same. Hotel Staff doesn't care about the gusets. This hotel is a Motel pretending to be a 4 star property!

It is in walking distance to the harbor where we had a dinner cruise. The staff was excellent. The decor is a little 90's and our room was small.

Worst Hotel I have Ever Been To!! - posted on 08/07/2006

This hotel is dirty and has the most unprofessional staff I have ever dealt with. The entire hotel needs to be cleaned top to bottom. We had to change rooms because ours was so disgusting. The staff does not care about its guests. They need a lesson in guest service. I would not wish this hotel on anyones vacation experience. Book elsewhere!

disappointing - posted on 05/30/2006

room was tired, bedsquirt ripped, water pressure low, parking outrageous, could feel & hear springs in bed, pillows nice & service generally good but not what I expected in a 4 star hotel

Not a great value - posted on 05/17/2006

The lobby and outside of the building are nice. The location of the hotel is fantastic. However, parking is an outrageous $20-$25 a night per car. When we got to our room, we noticed that wash rags were not provided and there was a non-working phone. Both things were remedied by an excellent staff, but for the price and the four star rating, I expected more.

Straight out of 1982 - posted on 04/27/2006

Until a complete remodel is done, this is NOT a luxury. Everything about it from the neon in the lobby to the decor in the rooms seem to have not been updated since the hotel was first opened. The linens and bedding were something I would expect out of a motel, not a 4 star hotel. The location however was decent, and views were fairly good. Bottom line? Its acceptable if you get a deal, but don't overpay.

Beautiful Hotel! - posted on 04/16/2006

I stayed at the Wyndham Emerald Plaza during the weekend of Street Scene because it was the only thing within 10 miles that wasn't fully booked. Even though it was a little pricey, it definitely lived up to my 5 star expectations. The service was splendid. When I was hungry at some odd hour of the night and room service was closed, they immediately found a place for me to order out and get delivered to my hotel door. They were kind, the room was beautiful and luxorious. If I need a last minute hotel next year, I will forsure book again here.

Fantastic view - posted on 04/12/2006

I stayed one night at the Emerald hotel to attend a reunion 11/2 blocks away. My smoking room was on the 23rd floor of the hotel, with an unbelieveable view of the bay, skyline, mountains, etc through 6 windows. Room was on the larger size, but carpet, upolstery and comforter are looking tired. View compensated, though. Parking-$25 a day. Elegant hotel. Would stay there again.

Affordable Luxury - posted on 01/24/2006

The Hotel had an amazing atmospehere, from the lobby, the room, and even to the buildings structure. The view from my room was beautiful make sure you ask for one! I had a view of both the water, and the city lights. The parking is a tad bit much but it does give you in and out privelidges. The parking across the way is cheaper, but DOES NOT have in and out privlidges. Overall great experience with this place!

the hotel is in a perfect location. you can walk to the Gas lamp distric, horton plaza, even sea port village if you want more exercise. the rooms are not large but they are clean and the staff is friendly. this was a good pick.

Comfort & Style - posted on 12/07/2005

I loved having the recent pleasure of staying in this hotel. It truely has an atmosphere above and beyond the reasonable pricing. The rooms make you feel very comfortable and relaxed. The vanity and marble sink tops are very classy.

VERY SATISFIED! - posted on 11/28/2005

The Wyndham was great! Very classy, great rooms, great view! My only complaint is that the parking was a little expensive, but I have since learned that parking anywhere in the downtown area is expensive.

Great Hotel - posted on 09/11/2005

This Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of San Diego. It is within walking distance of many of San Diego's greatest restaurants. The lobby is most impressive and rooms spacious with fantastic views.

Nice Hotel, Nice Location - posted on 08/27/2005

My wife, 2 year old daughter and I recently stayed 3 nights. The hotel was very clean (they were mopping the SIDEWALK one morning) and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Location is ideal. It is an easy walk to Little Italy, Horton Plaza, and the Gaslamp--not to mention 1/2 block from trolly station. We would definitely stay there again.

Great Stay - posted on 01/25/2005

We had a great stay at the Emerald Plaza, this hotel rocks! Location was perfect for walking to the Convention Center, Horton Plaza and Little Italy. The Concierge was great and had us set up for the entire stay. We're staying at this hotel again next time we're in San Diego.

not value for money - posted on 10/13/2004

rooms are in dire need of renovation with furniture that would not look out of place in thrift store. bedskirt had 40 holes in it when I stopped counting. carpet was dirty and threadbare. very basic coffee/tea supplies. front desk unhelpful because booked through internet company, treated as second class customer.
