Customer Reviews for Clarion Hotel Downtown Sacramento

Good Experience - posted on 12/14/2006

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were adequate, nothing fancy. The dining room staff was exceptionally pleasant; food was served quickly and it was good.

Dingy but they try hard - posted on 03/15/2007

I was surprised to see a sign somewhere that it had been renovated in '02. Looked like a throwback to the 1970s. But, they were responsive when I asked them to fix the non-working thermostat (or I would have to leave). The location can't be beat, and they even provided a little pool-side dinner service at my request. Rates aren't bad, and I've seen both better and worse.

Surprised - posted on 01/12/2007

After reading the other reviews on this hotel, when I arrived, I thought I might me at the wrong hotel. The staff treated me like royalty, welcoming me to the hotel with a gift bag, tellilng me that they were expecting me vs "checking in". I travel for business and rarely see this kind of treatment. This hotel has a great location and a wonderful charm about it. This looks like my new home away from home when I travel to Sacramento. I'll be back!!!

I checked out (i.e. ran like heck) at 9 p.m. - posted on 11/24/2006

Exterior and the lobby of this hotel are nice. However, there were holes in the hallway ceiling from leaks and the place smelled as old as it looked. My room was VERY cold because the entire wall was a sliding glass door to the courtyard. I turned on the very loud heater and after 2 hours I was still freezing! The toilet ran and there was no bathtub, only a shower. At 9 p.m. on my first night there I checked out and drove to a Hampton Inn in Rancho Cordova to get a decent night's sleep. For a chain you'd expect better, I'd definitely avoid this Clarion!

Not what a Clarion Should Be Like - posted on 06/07/2006

I was visiting for 2 nights and could not sleep due to the airconditioning unit making so much noise. The television service did not work for the entire time and when I asked the front desk what was going on, they responded that they always have problems with the television reception. Why put a television in the room if you can't view it? The swimming pool area was so littered with food boxes that for the first time ever my 8 year old didn't want to swim. The breakfast in the restaurant was served on styrofoam plates and plastic forks.

We had VERY slow service in the restaurant and never could connect to Internet. On the dingy side.

Just OK - posted on 03/17/2006

I travel extensively on business. Probably 80 nights a year. To me this hotel is just "ok". Somewhat drafty, older hotel that needs serious updating. It's about what you would expect for * a night. They could get a lot more if they updated the place.

Great for what it is - posted on 08/29/2005

This hotel was great for its class. Decent, comfortable rooms, good service. It's within easy walking distance of the Convention Center. I didn't eat at the restaurant, so I don't know how it is.

Horrible food - posted on 02/25/2005

We stayed here to be near the convention center. We had the worst breakfast I can ever imagine. Not edible and it wasn't cheap. Bad, bad, bad.
