The staff is exceptionally helpful, the location couldn't be better and I felt safe walking in the immediate area after dark.

The location.

The bathroom was so small that the door scraped the commode seat.

The hotel is well-appointed and they had a very good restaurant. The staff made us feel most welcomed and were more than responsive to any request. Room service was timely, food was tasty as well as served hot and in an attractive manner. With cab service it was a great alternative to staying adjacent to the Oakland airport. Do wish the hotel provided a shuttle service even if there had been a charge for that to and from the airport.

Rooms were so well, appointed and staff was professionally friendly and very helpful and eager to please, no matter the request!

Rooms were a little cramped and we would have liked a light, weight blanket instead of a duvet only with the sheet. Also wished for bus. center.

I loved the hotel itself, but was appalled that we had to park on the street (metered parking 8-6 Mon-Sat) because the underground parking was $25/day. Outrageous. Plus, we had to pay for internet access, also outrageous at $9.95 from noon-noon. I was given two days for 9.95 by the front desk. Props for their courteousness. What began as a very reasonably priced hotel room turned into more expense than we expected. Not a good surprise for customers who are very price conscious. These two points affected my scoring above. Otherwise, it would have excellent everywhere.

Parking was $25 per day, on street parking metered 8-6 Mon-Sat).

The 476-room Marriott Oakland City Center provides luxury accommodation at an affordable price and enjoys views of San Francisco and the Bay, Lake Merritt, Berkeley Marina and the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. The non-smoking, full-service hotel is a 12-minute ride on the BART subway from San Francisco. The 21-story property has five concierge levels and 32 meeting rooms for social or business functions. The largest can accommodate 5,000 guests. The property has facilities suited to the upmarket leisure or business traveler and is connected to the Oakland Convention Center. Other area landmarks and attractions include the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, Gondolas on Lake Merritt, USS Hornet aircraft carrier, Six Flags Marine World and the Oakland Zoo.

This Marriott gets many great reviews for its superb service, excellent location and a team of professional and efficient employees. Many said they wished they could have stayed longer and plan to use this hotel the next time they return to Oakland. There were complaints that the hotel is expensive, particularly when you add the all the extras like parking and Internet access. However, most customers realize that quality does not come cheaply. They say they will be back here, even if it means paying those extra dollars.
