The negatives started when we tried to check in early (we were told no) but I noticed the sign that said the pool was closed all month due to renovations. Terrible location (next to Hooters) road noise is horrific (RIGHT NEXT) to the freeway. Our bad experience goes on and on. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Usually enjoy La Quintas and the price was right.....found towel with human hair...left on floor for replacement....found it folded and back for next morning surprise!....mold growing above shower....weird smell from heater.....close to freeway and busy parking lot-bring your ear plugs!....not fit for human consumption I'm afraid...beware!!
Our Stay at the LaQuinta John Wayne - posted on 06/12/2006
The LaQuinta John Wayne was located by the freeway and across Hooters. Our room was facing the freeway and thought that the noise level was somewhat high. The noise may have been less if the door was insulated more, other than that our stay was nice and the housekeeping people were very pleasant.

The hotel was very nice & clean. The personel was very knowledgeable of the area and very helpful when needed. The noise level was an issue due to the location since it was right off the freeway. The hotel should try not to put all the guest in the same area since the parking was limited and since all the guests were on one side of the building there wasn't any spaces. Some cars ended up parking where there was no marking.
Not for families - posted on 12/27/2005
You can't go to bathroom quietly in the middle of the night w/out waking up others- the sink area is open, so the light wakes up others. Noisy toilet. BEWARE: there is a Hooter's next door - Not a family place!!

My stay here was a great experience. Whatever I asked for, I got. Front desk was friendly. I needed directions to the nearest restaurant and I was directed to a Deli down the street which had great food. The South Coast Plaza Mall was nearby which also had a movie theater and great restaurants. They are in the process of opening a Hooters and I can't wait to stay here when it opens.
